  2. "Lots of opportunities to learn, but a little disorganized"

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at MRIGlobal

    Pros

Mid sized company with many knowledgeable chemists and scientists Company events Management is generally fair Flex time so you can manage your personal life Good pay and benefits If you work hard, you will be recognized (sometimes) Many learning opportunities for different analytical equipment and analyses On site gym (though its in terrible disrepair and out of date)

    Cons

It is a nonprofit: Limited resources demands unlimited effort. You may find yourself working well in excess of 40 hour weeks to complete work that is due yesterday. The company is contract based, so when funding runs out, people start to worry (though sometimes needlessly) Navigating through all the different, and sometimes difficult, personalities (or attitudes) is a challenge. The facilities and equipment are out of...

I have been working at MRIGlobal for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great work life balance, very flexible with flex and comp time. Laid back managers, as long as you get your work done on time, no one will micromanage you. Ability to work as a team or solo, lots of women at top levels in the company, recognition for those deserving it. Gym on site, great staff activities and people. Raises are steady and very fair.

    Cons

Difficult to get promoted from non entry level positions, can be a bit ‘degreeist’ at some levels. If you want to move up the ranks, a masters or PhD is typically required.

    Advice to Management

Provide better options for maternity and paternity leave, more PTO, and develop your technical staff. Keep more abreast of modern technology and instrumentation.

I worked at MRIGlobal full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Many of the people there are a delight to work with.

    Cons

Much of the work there depending on your position is government contracting which is prone to be run sloppily and certain upper managers may encourage you to use in my opinion is not so ethical time sheet etiquette.

    Advice to Management

Encourage honesty and transparency as much as you can.
