    I worked at MRM//McCann full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to get involved in other projects
Recognized company to put on resume
    Laid back morning arrival 9-9:45AM
Experienced upper level management (get on their good side very early. they will move you quickly if they like you)
    Flexible PTO

    Cons

Company culture is low and not young and thriving/inspiring
Many of the large accounts are stale and not exciting/fun
Creative team and account team have difficulty working together
    Micromanagement from middle level management
On boarding process is dysfunctional and confusing
    Low pay with no over-time
No work life balance - You will be leaving earliest 6:30PM but mainly after 7PM (expect 10 hour days)

    Advice to Management

Organize workload for AAE and give a clear direction. Don't just throw them little bones to take care. Give them their own designated work and then expand from there. Direction for new hires is helpful

    I worked at MRM//McCann full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at McCann was overall a good experience. Good, smart people with high drive.

    Cons

Didn't always understand the clients needs. Once an AOR, found resources were sourced based on filling a seat rather than domain expertise

    Advice to Management

skip the favoritism and find the right resource the first time. While process and hierarchy are necessary, neither in and of itself drives outstanding results. Well qualified resources do.

    I have been working at MRM//McCann full-time

    Pros

If it appeals to you, there are occasional parties serving alcohol. Flexible PTO and 4 summer days.

    Cons

Cliquish, and favoritism abounds. Relatively high turnover, much of it involuntary. An uphill fight for any raise or promotion. This is the first company I ever worked for that forced me to choose between consideration for a raise and accepting a bonus. Without a doubt, the shadiest HR department in the business.

    Advice to Management

I know funds are short at the moment, but be a little more generous with compensation and consider merit when dispensing raises and promotions.

I have been working at MRM//McCann full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on who your manager is, the time in and out of the office is flexibile.
    75% tuition reimbursement.
    Extra summer pto days.
1 week off from Christmas to New Years Day.
    Not an LDS heavy company.
Women can succeed as well as men.

    Cons

    Terrible work environment.
    Very toxic.
No career advancement. Will hire external, before promoting within.
A lot of bullying and fear based mentality.
Raises are very very rarely given.
No concept of what a PM does. They are treated like an Admin Asst.

    Advice to Management

Inform the employees what a PM does and the back them so they can actually do their job.

I worked at MRM//McCann (Less than a year)

    Pros

The senior team was talented and supportive and it felt like employees were nicely rewarded and acknowledged for good work. Internal promotions were fairly common, though there did seem to be a bit of a ceiling for that.

    Cons

Few pitches were won, and there wasn't much creative work to be had. Once the SF team merged with the Salt Lake City team, the local SF office seemed like more of a production outpost. High turn over, especially in leadership.

    Pros

Great place to begin your agency career, lots of projects coming through.

More often than not, you will be creating the digital piece for a signed-off McCann above the line campaign.

    Cons

Lots of banners and ancillary deliverables, not a lot of opportunity to propose new concepts.

Long hours and inconsistent recognition of this extra effort by management

Zero amenities and low quality of work environment. A mini-snack bar and tap beers once a week for hundreds of employees is a somewhat glaring defect for a firm their size.

    Advice to Management

Push your teams towards growth instead of their breaking point, this will most likely solve your retention problem.

I have been working at MRM//McCann full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

With any job review you will read, a caveat needs to be understood that no workplace/job is perfect and every person experiences a job/workplace differently. Some find great relationships with their co-workers and that in it of itself makes their job that much more enjoyable.

The people at MRM//McCann are highly talented and motivated individuals. Office politics occur everywhere and MRM is no stranger to this. However, despite the known flaws of every job/office, MRM is a very sound place to work and will give you a solid foundation into the world of both digital advertising and digital production.

    Cons

As noted above, every workplace/job has it's flaws. MRM has no obvious flaws outside of the norm. If you want to make more money, as opposed to writing about it online, go out and earn it. Truthfully, MRM is a place where if you work hard enough, you will be recognized and you be properly compensated for your efforts.

    Advice to Management

Continue to ensure you notice your hard working employees. Your employees are everything and those that go above and beyond need to continue to be noticed.
