I worked at MSD Washington Township Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Great people to work with. Good hours.

    Cons

Awful work environment due to administration. Lack of support.

    Advice to Management

Hire better and more qualified principals and assistant principals. We have a power hungry principal and it's ruined the culture our school which has lead to firings and lot of people not wanting to return for the following year.

I have been working at MSD Washington Township Schools part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent hourly pay, friendly co-workers, freedom to teach your own style if you get results.

    Cons

It's a performance-based job. With the lack of micromanagement comes the lack of training. It can seem as if numbers are the only thing management cares about.

    Advice to Management

Don't be a stranger. Only communicating through emails sends a cold vibe to the teachers. Remember to see past the numbers and see the teachers as people who need some vocal support as well.

I worked at MSD Washington Township Schools full-time

    Pros

The pros are having a good team(7th), that will help foster and guide new teachers into the school. The staff is for the most part a great group of people. The pay is pretty good for first year teachers working in Indianapolis compared to other districts.

    Cons

The turnover at that school was CRAZY! I worked in 3 different rooms in the 2 years that I worked there out of necessity. It is not just for teachers either, There were multiple administrators who also had the revolving door treatment. I can't imagine how the students were expected to do well in a situation where you may have 3 different math teachers in 1 year. The administration had no control over student conduct and pushed the 'good' teachers out of the building.

    Advice to Management

Support the staff, set a standard for how you want students to behave. As a coach, there was no administrative support to limit players game times or anything for when a student would be out in detention all day long. It was hard to believe what students got away with.
