Best Hospital for advanced care BUT supervisors/HR lack compassion and standards
Nov 2, 2022 - Veterinary Assistant in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Many chances for learning new and important skills. -Meeting new people with different levels of knowledge. -Bringing pets to work daily for free.
Cons
-Management is allowed to make decision that are based on personal feeling and if they have enough seniority can get people terminated or make their career and life at work miserable day to day. -The work they expect you to accomplish is not worth the pay rate they give you. -Supervisors lack compassion and understanding and are often bias when it come to conflicts between co-workers or departments. -Will single certain people out and make it very hard for them to advance their career if not every one likes said person. -Good health care plan offered but unreasonably priced. -Work life balance is non existent. -Allow bullying to go on in departments without much repercussion for the bully.

Lack of communication - Please do better for the sake of the employees!
Jul 27, 2022 - Manager in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The doctors and technicians are wonderful people to work with. The mission of the company is one of the reasons I really wanted to work here.
Cons
Lack of communication. Politics. Low compensation for most technical staff. Lack of respect for ALL employees. Some services get preferential treatment over others for pay, respect, and incentives. Lack on mentorship. (though they are trying really hard to work on this. Facade of having an interest in mental health support for employees. (You will get fired if your mental health bleeds into your duties.)

Best work environment with the best people
Apr 20, 2022 - Veterinary Assistant in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Supportive, friendly staff -Workplace where staff becomes your second family -Passionate, hard-working co-workers -Fast-paced, intense, dynamic, and challenging work environment -Regular raises (albeit small) -50% discount on most products and services -Can bring your pet to work with you!
Cons
-Understaffed (taxing on the staff that remains) -Difficult to maintain work-life balance (as is the nature of this field in general--not a criticism specific to this particular workplace) -Underpaid for the level of loyalty, dedication, and hard work that employees put in (again, not an institution-specific criticism, but rather a criticism of the field at-large--the organization does its best to meet wage suitable for standard of living in Boston) -Not enough protection/support mechanisms in place to give front desk staff the comfort, security, and safety that they deserve. They work SO hard, care SO much, and have almost nothing to do with treatments/cost of treatment/management decisions/lack of vet communication/etc., but yet receive some of the worst harassment and verbal assault (as well as, in some cases, physical assault; stalking; threats to their health/wellbeing/safety/careers; etc.) that I have ever seen, and they are required to just put on a happy, smiley customer service face and just be okay/keep doing their job. Turnover in these roles is extremely high, and yet nothing is done to make front desk staff feel more valued, protected, and cherished, as their role is critical to the function of the hospital, and they are some of the sweetest, kindest, most caring people. They absolutely do not deserve to be subjected to such a dangerous and abusive environment. It is heartbreaking to hear some of the kindest people you have ever met discussing that a client saying "thank you" or "have a good day" (or even just giving a response of "you too!") made their day/was the nicest interaction they've had with clients in weeks or even months.

Jun 28, 2022 - Certified Veterinary TechnicianRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
great benefits, top doctors, variety of departments and procedures
Cons
Run by upper management which has no clue what happens on the floor, management has too much on their plate so new hires thrown into the fire
- Current Employee★★★★★
Never boring
Mar 12, 2022 - Veterinary Technician Specialist in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Always busy, great cases to gain experience and knowledge. Trying to utilize technicians as best they can. The people you work with are excellent.
Cons
Teaching hospital for doctors which can be frustrating at times, and you often lose out on opportunities to learn to new skills to the interns who often get priority on those skills.
