    I worked at MSU/KCMS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friendly and supportive co-workers, nice location, medical school is beautiful and the doctors really care as do the nurses and support staff.

    Cons

Poor pay, ok benefits but price of benefits seems to increase each year while pay raises are minimal and there is no cost of living increase. Management lacks leadership skills and micromanage benign things and can be vindictive when challenged. Some managers encourage tattlling and gossip about employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire well qualified leaders with proven leadership experience.

    Cons

Pay is CRAPPY! Raises are non-existent. They hire people on call so they don't have to pay benefits.

    Advice to Management

Want to keep good people-PAY UP!

I have been working at MSU/KCMS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Vacation time fairly generous. Work with some amazing human beings who give it their all. Helping the patients who are severe need.

    Cons

An organization that has no checks and balances, management leadership skills are completely lacking, team leads bully, upper management does not communicate with their staff effectively. Cannot hold on to good, compentent, hardworking staff because no action ever taken with regards to serious process issues. Overall a very stressful, hostile environment.

    Advice to Management

Spend actual time IN clinic area, see who does what, who needs help, LISTEN to the staffs concerns. Take action, APPRECIATE those putting everything they have into it. SHOW the appreciation by respecting those great employees. Also..... Remember, the residents are judging the organization as well, you want them to recommend to others looking for a program. What could be one of the places to work, is on manys list as the worst. Do something, make changes and make your employees WANT to come to work.

    I have been working at MSU/KCMS full-time

    Pros

Flexible, friendly, organized, high morale and lots of laughs in my department. They do not overwork staff and understand lives outside work exist.

    Cons

The pay is not phenomenal, but they make up for it with solid benefits. I was not exactly on boarded. I had a great first day orientation, but was then left to find the rest of the answers.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work and create a great first week onboarding process.

    I worked at MSU/KCMS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I loved working with the care givers: nurses, physicians, and therapists. They were dedicated to their profession and to their patients. MFB provides a needed niche service to west Michigan and the community appreciates their services.

    Cons

The stability of employment is uncertain especially for those in line and middle management positions. The pattern seems to be a reorganization across al departments every four years.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to be more transparent in its organizational challenges so that staff can work together to directly address these threats than to be simply be released from employment.
