Leadership needs fine-tuning
Sep 29, 2021 - Outreach Specialist in Schenectady, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Representing a well recognized health insurance company
Cons
Managers should be trained properly and thoroughly to know all facets of selling both government subsidized programs and quality health plans. How can a true and respected leader lead a team into battle without knowing how to fight or how to use The weapons at hand, But yet he is put in a leadership role where he is absolutely clueless in terms of strategic warfare; ie business leadership,

Pros
Flexible with shifts, good sick time leave, PTO, medical/vaccine paid time off separate from your regular PTO and sick days
Cons
Very little room for associates to grow. 80% of jobs posted are labeled for ' professionals.' Health insurance offered to employees it's not that great, considering this is a health insurance company. Also, I find it odd that a company who touts itself as caring so much about their employees doesnt give even a small token gift to them for Christmas - such an easy way for them to show their appreciation, yet taking into consideration all of the money they throw around, they still don't do it. Odd, when you look around at much smaller companies extending that appreciation to their employees at the holidays. It is disappointing because MVP she's always saying how much they care about and appreciate their employees oh, but it sounds hollow to me

Pros
Plenty of parking. Chance to learn the health insurance industry.
Cons
Low pay considering the amount of work. Extreme micromanagement in customer care. Only one manager out of 3 is willing to work. The 2 supervisors are too busy trying to climb the corporate ladder. The director doesn't seem to care about the workers at all. The health insurance coverage is subparge is subparge is subpar (considering MVP is a health insurance company)

HR needs to support employees

Good benefits--dental insurance is great Learned about health care insurance coverage which will always be helpful Many good people as coworkers
Cons
Some employees, including me, went through HR warning process because of trumped-up charges. HR rep told me that he was required to abide by what my supervisor had claimed, even though I could prove the "facts" weren't true. Terrible morale; many employees feel their work is not respected

Terrible even for call center
Feb 22, 2023 - Customer Service (CSR) in Schenectady, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
A paycheck, technically you get health insurance but even their non high deductible plan has a $1500 deductible.
Cons
Petty unavailable management, idiotic enforcement of ever changing rules, totally non existent information that you need to do your job. Every bit of information. Is spread all over, outdated, and wrong. The help desk continually gives bad information. They send information updates via email and demand you check your email but penalize you for checking email on a call. The members of this company are constantly irate because the company cannot send bills, cards or nearly anything else correctly because they're too busy patting themselves on the back for upgrades that don't work worth a damn and just adds more systems to use. Constant overtime because even with outsourced help they are not prepared for 6 months or of the year.

Associate Director

If your succeed and are knowledgeable of your job you will be rewarded. Great benefits and work life balance. While the company in recent years has gone through tough times the outlook going forward is extremely positive. With the merger with another health plan recently there was a concern on culture shock and in general a slow down in our goals. This has been the opposite in my opinion and not the same as previous mergers.
Cons
Health Insurance is difficult so we do not always get it right.
