I worked at MWH Global full-time

    Pros

I had a great time at the company and all my colleagues were super supportive of my learning curve. But it's a global company - every office and team is going to be different.

    Cons

Little bit of an old boys club.

I worked at MWH Global full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

intelligent, knowledgeable, and passionate coworkers. chances to work on variety of projects. chances to expose to many clients and build relationship for future endeavors. many reasonable supervisory professionals...

    Cons

if you are an entry level employee, and if you are unlucky, you get a direct supervisor that is manipulative, micromanages, and asks (bullies) you to donating your time to work for free and travel at your own expense. but i guess it happens to all companies. if this happens to you, don't waste your time, plan your exist strategy right away.

    Advice to Management

I met with Alan Krause, no complain to senior management. it's easy to keep good employees: keep them engaged and well rewarded. if you fail to do this, i'm sorry, there are many more opportunities out there...

I worked at MWH Global full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary and wages are very good in my opinion. The upper management seems to care about the employees. I feel that MWH hires well and knows how to pick the right person for a particular job/position.

    Cons

Insurance benefits are really lacking. The prescription plan is horrendous and very inconvenient when a person needs to have a regular or maintenance RX filled.

    Advice to Management

Look into a better benefits package. The insurance packages offered to employees was less than desirable, in my opinion. Especially the prescription plan.
Also I feel a new performance review process should be implemented, or eliminate the procedure all together.

I worked at MWH Global full-time

    Pros

previous ceo set the company up for success, grew the company to $1.5bn with a great future

    Cons

current ceo's lack of vision and weak leadership threw it all away......

    Advice to Management

    resign - you failed spectacularly

I worked at MWH Global full-time

    Pros

Great people at the company and some very interesting projects.

    Cons

Led by engineers without any focus on strategy, business development or progressive management policies. Huge opportunities for growth and business development were abandoned because the leadership only understood traditional engineering projects.

I worked at MWH Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some great people woking out on project sites. Great industry.

    Cons

Lack of leadership and direction. Do not value employees.

    Advice to Management

People that make up the business must be valued, after all, they are your biggest asset. A clear direction and vision should be created, particularly one that doesn't conflict with Stantec.

    Pros

The work environment is very good, most people are very personable and care about things about you that don't necessarily deal with work. You aren't forgotten as an intern, and will be tasked with challenging work when it is available.

    Cons

Being a consulting firm, the work ebbs and flows so there is not always a ton of work to be done. This results in interns constantly bugging engineers for work, which isn't the greatest dynamic all day long.

    Advice to Management

Management is actually really great, they did all they could to get me work as much as possible, with varying success. Possibly to try and get interns out in the field.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The company is constantly growing and looking for quality employees. Their overarching philosophy is to do good things for the communities where they work and live.

    Cons

Management doesn't connect willingly with mid-level or lower level constituents. The divide between executive management and others is noticeable and prevalent.

    Advice to Management

Executive management would do well to realize their jobs are made easier by the mid-level employees who work hard for the benefit of the entire company.
