I worked at Mabey (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a Monday to Friday job, with occasional weekends. Pay was okay.

    Cons

Transportation Manger never operated a truck before, management hired friends, Regional Managers were so over themselves, they would lie, and steal and break relationships up between Branch managers and workers. Heavy turn over in people.

    Advice to Management

The main fact is to listen to your people in the field. Don't try to bully your way in for info. Stop the bleeding of firing and layoffs.

I worked at Mabey full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great products, excellent reputation, can-do attitude from employees, excellent staff.

    Cons

New management arrived recently. Hiring all their old buddies, none of which have any experience of this type of company. Massive salaries for new managers. Senior positions only advertised externally. Bonus system has not been paid for 6 months. Massive staff churn.

    Advice to Management

Instead of bringing in new people on huge salaries, why not look internally, or at least advertise senior jobs within the company. We're not all as stupid as you think.

    Pros

Great benefits, and they're not overly critical of someone with a possibly questionable background when they're looking to hire someone.

    Cons

They need to value their "little guys" a little bit more than they do. And pay them as such. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees their worth, and let us know when we do something good. Not just when we mess up.
