    I worked at MacLean-Fogg full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company feel with many ongoing projects and opportunities. Decent benefits and pay. Been in the same business a while.

    Cons

Projects rarely get finished, such as their lean manufacturing projects. Lack of ownership and root cause analysis has people stuck in a cycle, running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It is entertaining only the first three times. Vertical OT separation leads to poor decision making.

    Advice to Management

Lack of sponsorship and follow through. Either a strategy does not exist or it is invented on the fly.

Engineers often have limited input on strategic issues and planning.
    Medical benefits are marginal.

Don't just give lip service to Lean concepts.
Departmental managers need to realize that their direct reports have valued input.
Micromanaging by senior management is counterproductive

I have been working at MacLean-Fogg full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They offer great benefits including full medical, dental and vision. Competitive wages, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays. Good people.

    Cons

Union atmosphere. Working 10 hours shifts consistently so home life suffers. Not much room for growth if you stay confined to a particular location.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating employees with respect. Get rid of the labor union, if possible. It drives too much self-entitlement among the staff.

    Cons

    Bureaucratic structure
    Communication can take hours
    Training lackluster
    Union

It's a big company so everyone has to go through their channels and there has to be emails and meetings to get a simple job done. It takes too long for word to travel.

    Advice to Management

Less time to communicate needed repairs- schedule downtime for repairs before breakdown occurs.

    Pros

    Owned by a lovely family.

    Cons

Family never comes to see us. Management is a joke. Big Lie and Gossip Factory. Doesn't hear their employees cry's.

    Advice to Management

You need to go in and look at the management is and isn't doing. Moral is going down the toilet. Make sure you check the krooks and crannies, their good at hiding it.
