I have been working at Macado's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The restaurant is very laid back with great specials to attract guests. The specials include various drinks and food and even dessert.

    Cons

Work on tips, if slow not much money to be made. Also, the schedule for servers does not come out until the day before the new week.

    Advice to Management

Try and get all schedules out at the same time in order for employees to switch shifts and make plans accordingly.

    I worked at Macado's part-time

    Pros

    Fun work environment
Other employees were fun to be around

    Cons

A little too much micromanagement from managers
I was always surprised with the schedule every week (which we routinely got late) and had to switch shifts often because of it.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the "just-in-time" scheduling.
Have the same person, preferably a manager, train each of the kitchen staff so they know exactly how to make each dish.

    I worked at Macado's part-time

    Pros

Pretty decent money during the season. Laid back atmosphere and good food for not very much money. That's about it!

    Cons

No management, the managers are too busy cooking to actually help. They get mad when you ask questions and there was almost zero training.

    Advice to Management

Train your servers better! Be more understanding when they have questions. Be managers, not cooks! Overall, improve across the board.

    Pros

Good food and good team atmosphere.

    Cons

Since food was cheap, tips tended to be less.

    Advice to Management

Since low tips, increase base pay.

    Pros

Close to campus and pretty flexible hours.

    Cons

It was a college town, small town, not a lot of tipping going on.

    Pros

The hours were always flexible unless you were management, the pay was standard, and the staff was relaxed.

    Cons

There is little room for growth. You either become a manager and work 55-60 hours a week or move on to a better job.

    Advice to Management

There are always better ways to do things, if you aren't willing to try new ideas and innovate the company won't succeed.

    I worked at Macado's part-time

    Pros

Laid back depending on the manager
Allowed to take smoke breaks if you were a smoker
50% off food when on the clock
Could leave early if it was slow as long as you weren't a closer

    Cons

Servers had to do all the dishes, including those from the kitchen at the end of the night, yet didn't get paid any extra for this. You could be back there doing dishes and then get in trouble because it took you too long to get to your table.
The tips sucked, people seemed to think since it was a sandwich place you didn't have to tip even though it was a full service restaurant.
Horrible about scheduling, especially if you were in school

    Advice to Management

Actually pay attention when making schedules, keep up with the people who don't do their part with dishes and cleaning, stop with the favoritism.
