I have been working at Macdonald & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love what we do and how we conduct the Recruitment Cycle.
Having such a personal and indepth relationship with our clients and candidates allow us to do more than just fill a vacancy. I love what we stand for and our great reputation in the Industry. Having our Director as our Leader, is fantastic. She is such an inspiration and really motivates us. I like the system we work on - it makes the process smooth and quick (mostly)

    Cons

I think that we are a bit under staffed - we need more bodies for our work load. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The glitches and slowness working on Citrix is super frustrating.

    Advice to Management

    Can we have monthly incentives?

I have been working at Macdonald & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have just been treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to Kenya on Safari with a group of consultants from around the world for hitting an annual incentive. This really was a once in a lifetime trip and goes to show how the company are committed to giving back to their employees and creating an environment which really encourages you to strive to be the best.

The company has a very international set up; every office globally uses the same database so your international reach is huge - this is a benefit almost daily to me with the roles I fill which are more and more international in their requirement. It is also very inclusive - consultants are incentivised to share candidates and clients so you move away from a recruitment culture which can be very aggressive to one that awards team-work.

It is also testament to the company that so many of the team globally have worked here for over 10 years. This also makes the environment more mature - everyone works hard but has a lot of fun as well.

    Cons

No real downsides - there will always be pressure to do well however that is the nature of recruitment!

I have been working at Macdonald & Company full-time

    Pros

Macdonald and Company is an amazing company to work for, after many years of service I would not consider working for an alternative recruitment company. We are treated fairly, with respect and very well looked after and rewarded for hard work. The rewards vary, but they offer an excellent commission structure and aside from this you are rewarded with quarterly and annual prizes.
Alongside this there is an amazing team of people which all help to create a fun and hardworking environment.

    Cons

Any issues that I have, tend to be addressed within a timely fashion

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at Macdonald & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere in a nice central London office with some good characters.

    Cons

No one goes into recruitment to pick up their base and the commission scheme only rewarded the very best billers who I imagine took home some handsome commission cheques. The only people who do this are those that have been with the company 5-10 years (or more).

There is a huge turnover as the younger hungrier consultants realise they can't wait that long in the pecking order and move to other companies with better commission structures that helps these guys with the pressures of living and working in London.

Don't get me wrong, it's not because these guys aren't any good at their job, it's just you can bill quite substantially and walk away with peanuts.

    Advice to Management

Change the commission scheme so it's more attractive to everyone, not just the top 2%.
