    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Macmillan Education full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fair salary, fantastic canteen, modern offices, great location.

    Cons

New management came in and made everyone redundant. Profit reigns, employees are not valued.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees. The loss of knowledge and lack of handover with a high staff turnover will eventually hurt your profit.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Macmillan Education full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible office hours, direct access to senior management, central office location, nice canteen and many rooms to book meetings throughout the day.

    Cons

below industry benchmark salaries with little to no opportunity for progression, HR are less interested in assisting members of the company than they are at doing what management tell them to do. They appear to be more concerned with not making promises they cannot deliver than sorting genuine concerns before good people leave the company.

    Advice to Management

Take more of an interest in employees wellbeing at the onset, rather than when they are out the door.

    I worked at Macmillan Education

    Pros

Great people to work with, payment is regular and certain, generally interesting work

    Cons

The rates in educational publishing are lower than in other editorial fields (but that's not just Macmillan - their rates are similar to other educational publishers).

    I worked at Macmillan Education

    Pros

A few people there are genuine and want to do their job properly and make things a success. People trying to do their best with what little budget they are given.

    Cons

Blame culture from management and from certain facets of the company. There's very weak support for team members - they are often overloaded with work of 2 people - their own and those who leave (it takes them a long time to hire new people). There's an extremely high turnover of staff (1-2 people a week). Good people feel demoralised from micro management and a lot of people off sick from stress it seems. For such...

    Advice to Management

I worked at Macmillan Education full-time

    Pros

Great people, colleagues. A lot of talent if only allowed to use creativity

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Get HR to do their job properly and stop being puppets for you
