I worked at Macmillan Education full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Buen salario y generalmente buena gente con la que trabajar (especialmente fuera de España).

    Cons

No se valora a las personas por su desempeño (al menos en la oficina española), sino por los contactos que tienen dentro.

    Advice to Management

Valorar más a las personas de dentro en lugar de buscar a alguien fuera de la empresa

I worked at Macmillan Education full-time

    Pros

Wonderful coworkers; good insurance policy; sometimes interesting projects

    Cons

High levels of stress for very little pay; little or no opportunities for advancement; little appreciation and support for employees; managers often don't hire new employees for many months, instead piling work on current employees; some managers verbally harass employees; a general feeling of despair and burnout; the top managers push back against initiatives to increase diversity and employee well-being and... self-care

    Advice to Management

Start compensating employees for their time and efforts; with the low pay, high stress, and lack of appreciation, there's no reason for people to stay here.

I have been working at Macmillan Education full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They know how to keep your hopes up and will promise the moon.

    Cons

Took Sapling Learning and ruined it. Pay is awful with more responsibility tacked on at upper management's discretion Disorganized worse than anything I have ever seen. Micro-managers Lack perspective of the non C-level employees Promises that never come to fruition and play their hand close to the chest Bonus plans and goals are never even remotely on time No clear answers to direct questions Distract with... false enthusiasm and encouragement Indifferent to their hardest workers No room for advancement or growth Withheld a third of the sales income by changing bonus payout times (from quarterly to yearly) CEO loves to hear himself talk.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Macmillan Education full-time

    Pros

There are essentially no rules for decorum. You can come into the office anytime you want, leave anytime you want. You can curse at people, threaten people, talk about guns. Because no one is held accountable for anything unless there is a gigantic disaster, you can pretty much sit around all day having a good time.

    Cons

No accountability. This means it is nearly impossible to get anything done. Folks don't really work together. There are no real teams. Folks are trying to hold on to their lux jobs and the best way to do that is to throw other people under the bus at every opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Consider the moral issues with selling overpriced textbooks and technology products to students. Perhaps the office culture would improve if there was a concentration on customer satisfaction.

I made some good friends while working here

    Cons

Incompetent and disinterested managers from the very top through to the very bottom.

I have been working at Macmillan Education

    Pros

No pros. Maybe good coffee and work timings.

    Cons

Upper management has no brains of there own, HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Hurl abuses at each other on the floor, threaten employees if they try and complain. HR is of no use, just a puppet in the hands of the senior management. Senior management comes with no experience,no creativity, only slavish behaviour. A very boring atmosphere. They pass personal comments at each other, talk rubbish. No intellectual stimulation... happening. Women dominated , so they flirt with the first man they find, even married women with kids. Blame their own in competencies over innocent employees. Worst company culture ever!!!!!! Beware, they will eat you up before you know it. Vamps all around!

    I worked at Macmillan Education

    Pros

It's hard to find positives since all the restructuring. It was a lovely company full of interesting people but they have all be pushed out. All that remains is a hollow brand name. Some remants of decency remain.

    Cons

Terrible senior management. Completely out of touch. Lacking foresight.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in business development. Give employees something to feel proud of instead of nothing but cutting, slashing and restructuring.

    Advice to Management

must change management principles, let employees speak up, value good workers rather than letting them go after 1 - 2 years

I have been working at Macmillan Education for less than a year

    Pros

Modern office with a few talented people that are willing to help.

    Cons

A very inflexible and clueless management that fail to understand that we live in a digital age where change is not only desirable but is required. They keep releasing have baked products without thinking through the user experience versus user interface. They seem to go to meetings and all they expect is everyone to agree with everything that they say, there is no room for reasoning or understanding. When... you give them feedback all they do is make you feel as if you are dumb. and a few months later they sit down again and implement the very changes they rejected and behave as if they brainstormed these ideas. What makes the situation even worse is every department is plagued with exactly the same problem!!
