      Pros

Great people, benefits, and product. New offices in NYC. Improvements should be apparent within 6 months to a year.

      Cons

Previous corporate mistakes and management changes have created a challenging environment.

A shadow of its former self

      Pros

Great people, historically some of the best in the higher education field. Competitive remuneration packages, and flexibility with working from home. Some interest in training and development experience for more junior employees.

      Cons

Appalling management, from the top all the way down to the new (superfluous) middle-managers. Seemingly constant restructuring and omnipresent management-speak is demoralizing for staff, and contributes little but distracting from front-line employees getting their heavy workload done. Platitudes about Macmillan being an international company should not be taken seriously.

      Pros

Great people to work with, payment is regular and certain, generally interesting work

      Cons

The rates in educational publishing are lower than in other editorial fields (but that's not just Macmillan - their rates are similar to other educational publishers).
