I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, great people, great discount. I love the work I do, too.

    Cons

Salary is not comparable to other HR jobs by any stretch of the imagination. Terrible health coverage. Sales associates get perks, office help gets nothing.

    Advice to Management

Step up your game for the AST's

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great starter job is you are looking for flexible hours.

    Cons

Benefits start after a year of employment and aren't that great. Not enough PTO. Unless you like working all weekend and Holidays, the only opportunities to move up are in sales management which are mostly filled externally or if you've been with the company for many, many years. Ever since I started working for Macys there seems to be major changes and cuts on the store level.

    Advice to Management

Invest more into your employees and maybe the turnover won't be so high. There needs to be more value towards merit and not tenure.

I worked at Macy's (More than a year)

    Pros

Great way to learn about the biggest retailer in the company.

    Cons

They do not view EA's highly in this company. After they give out raises to all of the executives, upper management, and entry-level employees, they simply divide whatever $ is leftover among all of the EA's in the company, regardless of your performance. I received, no joke, a 23 cent raise (my boss "fought" for me and had it increased to a whopping 50 cents).

    Pros

Most of the associates are good people that put up with a lot. I loved working with a diverse group of people. Helping customers was one of my favorite parts of my job.

    Cons

Executives are completely out-of-touch with reality. Sales goals are impossible to meet. The pay is horrendous! Be prepared to work a lot and still not able to pay your bills.

    Advice to Management

Your associates are people, not a sales or credit goal. The store manager should NEVER talk badly about their associates. Managers should know more about Macy's policies than the associates. Why do you not promote from within?

I worked at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Customer service is great professional environment.

    Cons

My assignment ended in August 2014 though the previous assignment company had wonderful things to say about my work ethics they had not located me another assignment.

    Advice to Management

The job seekers who do great work for you try not to loose them as their your key to more job request opportunities. Make sure you find them assignments after their assignment has ended if they were not representing your company well then the people at the assignment would not say good things about the job seeker and the company would not request repeat service.
