    Pros

Lots of new initiatives going on all the time so you learn a lot and get great experience, career opportunities, great coworkers, employee discount

    Cons

Schedules (same as other retail, you will work holidays, some night shifts and weekends)

    Advice to Management

    Compensation should be more competitive.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing team of friendly employees, excellent training, sufficient enough hours, vacation time increases per year, good ability to be promoted, etc,.,

    Cons

Benefits aren't great at all (I didn't even use them due to the $5,000 annual deductible), no chance of overtime possible, many store closings per year (no future guarentee/no promised promotions) and pay isn't good unless you apply for AST/Security/Visual and have a minimum of an Associates Degree. Most Sales Associates and Support get minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Hire more full-time (turnover wont be so common), assist with transitioning (store closings/transfers/HR) and offer more than minimum wage for Sales associates and Support (to increase employee morale and decrease turnover).

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people in my location. The associate discount is 20%. Early hours means getting home at an earlier time. It's satisfying to make product look appealing

    Cons

Productive is a heavy focus. So management is always pushing for faster work. It's a lot of wear and tear on the body

    Advice to Management

    Treat your people better

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They discounts are really good. 20% plus additional 10% off events for employees

    Cons

No training, always understaffed, management doesn't responsibility, policies constantly changing, customers are extremely rude about those coupons and there's no back up from management even when customers are aggressive and wrong. Pay is horrible. I think the company may be in financial trouble they way they keep revamping similar to the way JC Penny did.

    Advice to Management

COMMUNICATE AND STAY TRUE TO YOUR WORD.

    Cons

Inadequate leadership involvement in day to day operations and minimal training.

    Advice to Management

Consider treating employees somewhat as well as you treat customers.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount on clothes which you can add up. 20% coupon or discount using your Macy's card, and then another 20% for employee discount. A good job for first time workers as the hours aren't long if you work part time, or if you just want some pocket change.

    Cons

Management was too aggressive when it comes to making your sales goal and opening up new Macy's credit cards. And you will hate everything and everyone during the holiday seasons.

    Advice to Management

Be more understanding as to the fact that not everyone wants to open another card. The way the world is today people to worry about a lot of things, and I'm sure shopping at Macys on a day to day basic isn't one problem they want.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They worked with my schedule for the most part and there are incentives..small ones but incentives. You meet some nice people if you're lucky

    Cons

Not enough staff so EVERYONE seemed overworked. It's impossible to get things done sometimes. They are always cutting hours but expecting the same amount of work done. with less people, less time and very little pay. They also pull the bait and switch. I went for one interview, they hired me for different title which wasnt that big a deal at the time then when I start I'm all of a sudden seasonal when that was never discussed in the interview or follow up after. Just when I was starting.

    Advice to Management

Pay the great employees what they're worth. Macy's money doesn't help get bills paid. People go out of their way and take on jobs people higher up should be doing more often than they need to. Also, stop hiring everyone you interview. Incompetent people only cause more work for those who know what they're doing.
