I have been working at Macy's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You learn a lot in a really short amount of time. Flexible scheduling. The Managers have high expectations but it is really to keep everyone safe. Be ready to go through constant training and drills.

    Cons

It can be tough work at times. Apprehending shoplifters can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Look at the rate of pay for the top performers.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Many nice and friendly/well-educated coworkers. This leads to a overall Hospitality spirit that may not be warranted based on the lousy pay. 20% employee discount.

    Cons

Lousy pay which leads to low morale. Benefits are expensive to purchase and have deducted from your paycheck. You are paid so poorly you can't afford to purchase the items they have in the store! Work here and join the working class poor

    Advice to Management

This is a company that makes money hand-over-fist. Why not take care of your employees by paying them a livable wage! They are one of the major reasons why a Macy's store can't have exceptional sales volume. Your employees and fine products are the reason why people come to Macys. You pay them so poorly which belies an insult to your employees. There will come a time when you will not have any kind of good employee...

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Store Manager really seemed to care about the store's success and supported Asset Protection (my department). The "rules" of asset protection were smart and safety was always a priority.

    Cons

Sales managers were overworked and complained about working conditions and not getting time off. Pay was quite low considering some of the duties of the job (approaching and apprehending shoplifters).

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

pick up a sense of fashion

    Cons

Everything that has to do with lp/ap is thrown out the window, your part time lp full time collection agent (they want you to collect money from shoplifters)

    Advice to Management

    compare salaries in other companys
