    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Associates that I worked with.

    Cons

Managers do not care about their employees at all and the act like they don't like to help out

    Advice to Management

Learn how to speak to your employees and treat them well, if it wasn't for your associates who would do the job. Also managers should have the same training that associates get for their department, because half of them don't know what their doing (especially in the jewelry department).

    Pros

If you desperately need a paycheck of some kind it's an easy hiring process.

    Cons

This isn't a career. Macy's Retail model is outdated, the product is sub par, and costs more than any retail/e-commerce site.

    Advice to Management

Become a distribution hub and focus the product offerings. Anything worth buying from Macy's can be found and shipped cheaper elsewhere.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the employees I worked with were the best. We all worked together.

    Cons

Pay is horrible. Management is horrible. Macys is hiring interns that don't even have experience in retail making huge costly mistakes. You work incredibly hard with zero appreciation. No loyalty to employees. HR corporate is now handling all questions and layoffs. Very cold and impersonal. Shows you the direction of this awful company.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating the employees low on the food chain as if they have nothing to contribute. Appreciate the people that get down on the floor, dust and move your fixtures. Hire people with experience. Hire interns and let them work from the bottom up like everyone else. Best learning tool.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I'm flex, so picking my own schedule was very convenient for school. And a lot of managers allow overtime.

    Cons

Micromanaging, and non-seasonal times get a little mundane. But a job is a job is a job. So I can't complain too much.

    Advice to Management

    Relax on the micromanaging.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    There are absolutely none. Period.

    Cons

    Horrible place to work. Period.

    Advice to Management

Close up shop. It’s time for you to move along, and stop lying and wasting peoples efforts. Bunch of losers.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

20% employees discount even on sale items & last act items.

    Cons

What you to were 3 - 4 hats at once. They just keep adding on more for you to do. The yearly merits are always less the $0.25 cents. They always make their sales plan but when it's time for reviews, they say sales were not good.

    Advice to Management

Be better Manager & stop trying to put your jobs on the hourly wage employees.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours with the opportunity to pick up more during the week/month.

    Cons

The worst part about the job is dealing with the customers. if you're a people person and can be patient in dealing with cranky old women and people trying to steal/do shady stuff this is pretty okay retail job.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Like anything, working at Macy's can go either way. It can be a platform or just another 9 to 5. It all depends on how you utilize whatever position you start in.

A pro is that the company offers great discounts and employee incentives with access to wonderful products.

    Cons

A con is work life balance can become a problem during commercial holidays and supervisors will completely cut your hours at the last minute. Some employees have had schedules of 4 hours a week, which isn't conducive.

    Advice to Management

Be more inclusive and genuine with your team. Do not place the value of results over the value of people. Continue to encourage team to give back because that brings the team together.
