Opening credit card applications were very rewarding. Each time you opened one you received "Macys Money", which was store money that could be used on anything in the store.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was higher than minimum wage, there is a lot of employee diversity.

    Cons

I think just about everyone I worked disliked Macy's as a company. We all felt that they only cared about numbers, and really didn't care what they put employees through, as long as it meant profit. Macy's stayed open on more holidays than any other store in our mall, and also had the longest hours, by far. Management wasn't great, they literally only cared about you pushing store credit cards and making customers buy things they don't need. It's all about sales, and working days/hours no other stores have too.

    Advice to Management

Stop obsessing over credit cards and actually focus on treating employees right and offering good service. Stores are closing for a reason.

    Pros

Employee discount was the only real perk.

    Cons

Management doesn't recognize hard working employees and rewards the ones who are lazy.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention, you're losing good people who prefer to not work with lazy, disappearing acts.
