    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, Easy work, OK Pay, Nice Coworkers

    Cons

At my location there was always an issue with the scheduling due to the manager. Also there are credit card goals that can be hard to reach because most customers are not spending a large amount in Backstage because it is an outlet section. Also most customers that come in already have a Macy's card.

    Advice to Management

Be efficient when making schedules and make realistic goals.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work in the women shoe dept. I've been here 3 years. They start everyone off at $9 ph but I also received 7.5% commission ONLY on selling shoes.

    Cons

No room for growth UNLESS you are a brown-noser. Horrible pay for all the work they want you to do. It's more like American sweat shop. Management are never around to deal with customers or they just don't feel like it. They over work the good employees and the others get to do what they want so it always feel understaffed when it's not.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management.... Get NEW management!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Associates that I worked with.

    Cons

Managers do not care about their employees at all and the act like they don't like to help out

    Advice to Management

Learn how to speak to your employees and treat them well, if it wasn't for your associates who would do the job. Also managers should have the same training that associates get for their department, because half of them don't know what their doing (especially in the jewelry department).

    Pros

If you desperately need a paycheck of some kind it's an easy hiring process.

    Cons

This isn't a career. Macy's Retail model is outdated, the product is sub par, and costs more than any retail/e-commerce site.

    Advice to Management

Become a distribution hub and focus the product offerings. Anything worth buying from Macy's can be found and shipped cheaper elsewhere.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the employees I worked with were the best. We all worked together.

    Cons

Pay is horrible. Management is horrible. Macys is hiring interns that don't even have experience in retail making huge costly mistakes. You work incredibly hard with zero appreciation. No loyalty to employees. HR corporate is now handling all questions and layoffs. Very cold and impersonal. Shows you the direction of this awful company.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating the employees low on the food chain as if they have nothing to contribute. Appreciate the people that get down on the floor, dust and move your fixtures. Hire people with experience. Hire interns and let them work from the bottom up like everyone else. Best learning tool.
