    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Treat people fair. great working conditions. Treated as an equal.

    Cons

shoplifting problems due to a lack of customer service which is due to NOT enough employees to operate store.

    Advice to Management

Less is more is no longer possible
to successfully combat shoplifting, hirer enough employees for size of store.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discounts! The regular discount is 20% plus you can use coupons and Macys money on your purchases. Your discount came be applied in all Macy's holdings.

    Cons

Rude customers! No cohesion between management and associates. They say we are empowered but there is no empowerment. There is no real work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as well as you treat your customers.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None none none none none none none none and NONE. Oh! I forgot, they give you days off of work.

    Cons

Management sucks! Pay sucks! Hours suck! Job sucks! Their point system sucks! They harass you about not making sales and greeting customers, even when your only customers are Casper the Friendly Ghost and The Invisible Man.

    Advice to Management

Keep your word and ,at least, ACT like you care about your employees. You're more concerned about your conniving customers, than you are about the happiness and well-being of your employees!!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work environment. The store I worked at was amazing. The culture of the company is welcoming. The hours are not terrible. Getting hours is not bad. Depending on your availability, you pick them up. The credit rewards are awesome!

    Cons

I was option 5 so I hardly cleared any money. I left because I needed more money. I probably would have stayed if the money was better.

    Advice to Management

Great management in store but overall, the company should pay at least $9.50 for the amount of work you do.

I have been working at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really great team and thorough training

    Cons

The position only pays $8.75 for training and $10 an hour. I wasn't told the difference in pay until the day before I started.

I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers
Good place to learn about asset protection/loss prevention without experience.
They will keep you if a position is available & you perform well.

    Cons

Manager let co-workers get away with way too much that probably was not good for business.

    Pros

Great people to work with, great experiences.

    Cons

The pay is horrible for entry level and management level.

    Advice to Management

Work on building better relationships between management and having compensations match experience and skill.

    Pros

Loved working with the people, both employees and customers. Macy's offers very generous PTO to new managers, 3 weeks vacation from start date.

    Cons

This job requires one to be on call 24-7. The average work week is about 60 hours. Staff is constantly being cut and work added.

    Advice to Management

Minimize district team visits. This takes store teams focus from driving daily initiatives.

    Pros

great place depending on the manager of the store and human resources.

    Cons

Management is untrustworthy. Its like its your word against theirs. If you are not apart of management you don't matter

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees management is not always right.
