I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

lancome is a nice company, they train really well and give loads of full products! they truly care about their employees and want them to be the most trained in the industry.

    Cons

macys however does not care about their employees and are cutting everyone in beauty to part time or laid off, the company is struggling to make goals and there is bad morale in every deparment of store.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For the most part they treated me fairly. Good pay for college student. As long and you makes your sales goal, give good customer service and dont have a habit of being absent you'll be fine.

    Cons

Having to open up credit applications, assistance score system was unfair, nearly impossible to get weekends off

    Advice to Management

Be fair and treat your employees equally.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked in a commission based department with no draw (Cosmetics and Fragrances) and the pay plan was fair and made sense, based on percent of the sale before tax. Very open to experimentation in my department when it came to makeup, hair, and wardrobe. Was awarded Gratis from my line and there were contests with free product as the prize. I was paid pretty well for not having prior professional cosmetic experience.

    Cons

Treated unfairly as the youngest associate in my department. The store was messy in the back unless there was a visit from the GSM's higher ups. Little to no organization above my immediate department manager.

    Advice to Management

Stop choosing favorites. Higher standards on organization even where guests can't see. Also - PLEASE higher sanitation standards for skincare and cosmetics!!

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful coworkers, decent pay compared to other retailers

    Cons

Lack of accommodation, poor management, unresponsive online Human Resources team.

    Advice to Management

This is NOT an equal opportunity employer. Discrimination and poor treatment of people with disabilities. Extreme nepotism and unprofessional management.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

20% discount on everything. That's it.

    Cons

Terrible management, I experienced bullying and harassment from both management AND colleagues on a daily basis, with HR not doing anything because the store manager would cover it up and scare me into silence.
TERRIBLE policies, I broke my foot in 3 places and sprained in 1, had to go to the ER, and got a doctor's note saying not to work for at least 4 days and to be able to sit and Macy's said I could quit, call out until it's healed (essentially, being fired because I couldn't call out more than 3 times), or get someone to cover all my shifts (which is basically impossible because the colleagues I worked with are selfish and mean and won't raise a finger to help anyone unless it directly benefits them) and that I was still not allowed to sit down or lean on anything.
No pay raises or fair compensation, I met and exceeded goals on a daily basis and in my entire time I got a 50 cent raise and only got paid $10.80 with the 50 cent raise.
Management has CLEAR favorites and treats anyone who isn't as absolute trash and will never get career advancement.
By the end of my work at Macy's I seriously considered suicide because no other jobs were getting back to me and suicide seemed like a better option than working here (note; seek help if you feel depressed and/or suicidal).

    Advice to Management

Treat and pay your employees fairly, actually look farther into HR reports than asking the store manager, create a SAFE work place.

Don’t put so much pressure on sales
