    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, good team ethic, and flexible hours. I had a great manager that allowed me to change my hours if I didn’t like what I was working, or needed to take my child to dr etc.

    Cons

Pay was low, but commissions made up for it. The more you sell, the more your check was. If you didn’t meet the monthly quota, you were put on a “list” and would be told to improve.

    Advice to Management

Management at the store I worked for was great, they always looked out for each person. It was a great experience.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at the makeup department is nicer, the schedule is very flexible, and we make more money than other employees. Also, we make a small commission when we sell makeup/cosmetics.

    Cons

With time, they started to hire less and less people to work there, so sometimes we need to work at other departments (like the show department) when we are not "supposed" too.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Higher wages compared to other cosmetic retailers, flexible breaks

    Cons

Quarterly layoffs, nepotism, poor management, unprofessionalism, sexual harassment, overall negativity, no set standard for cosmetic consultations, minimal training

    Advice to Management

I don’t even know where to begin. This was once a fair, unbiased, positive environment to work in. Start by evaluating employees on their job performance & how much they do for the department, not by the number of credit cards they can open for raises.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

lancome is a nice company, they train really well and give loads of full products! they truly care about their employees and want them to be the most trained in the industry.

    Cons

macys however does not care about their employees and are cutting everyone in beauty to part time or laid off, the company is struggling to make goals and there is bad morale in every deparment of store.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For the most part they treated me fairly. Good pay for college student. As long and you makes your sales goal, give good customer service and dont have a habit of being absent you'll be fine.

    Cons

Having to open up credit applications, assistance score system was unfair, nearly impossible to get weekends off

    Advice to Management

Be fair and treat your employees equally.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked in a commission based department with no draw (Cosmetics and Fragrances) and the pay plan was fair and made sense, based on percent of the sale before tax. Very open to experimentation in my department when it came to makeup, hair, and wardrobe. Was awarded Gratis from my line and there were contests with free product as the prize. I was paid pretty well for not having prior professional cosmetic experience.

    Cons

Treated unfairly as the youngest associate in my department. The store was messy in the back unless there was a visit from the GSM's higher ups. Little to no organization above my immediate department manager.

    Advice to Management

Stop choosing favorites. Higher standards on organization even where guests can't see. Also - PLEASE higher sanitation standards for skincare and cosmetics!!
