    Pros

Big company, great opportunities to learn retail from the very best and good opportunity to grow

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can see your schedule online. You get paid time off benefits. You get paid for half hour lunch breaks. This is all I can think of.

    Cons

-This is a part-time job, but you are expected to have the availability of a full-time worker.

-They give you less hours a week than the amount of work that is required.

-Because you cannot possibly change all the signs before the store opens, you end up changing them in front of customers. This is incredibly uncomfortable.

-The work is quite hectic for the near minimum wage pay. There is a lot of pressure to be unrealistically quick and accurate.

-As a support associate, you are virtually ignored by management.

-Training is mostly done over a screen.

Do not take this job. Macys should figure out a more efficient way to change signs.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is really good at 30%. It also works on top of whatever sales are going on at the moment.

    Cons

I initially applied for a regular job here, but when I went for the interview, they told me they were only hiring for seasonal work. Not wanting for it to be a waste of my time, I agreed to accept the job.

The training was okay - they just leave you on the computer for the whole day and let you watch videos. The only problem I had was how they just throw you in on the first day. A manager guided me to the area that I was supposed to be in and left me there with two employees and told them to show me the ropes. They didn't know what to do with me, so I was left with no idea of what I was supposed to be doing.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on training your employees on their first day. Tell them what they're actually supposed to do.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Know about retail business; learn about sales skills. working with different types of customers; develop your interacting and communication skills.

    Cons

It is not a good job for those people who are not comfortable at sales role. Too simple tasks, easily get bored.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work there full-time for the summer and it was great. The employees are friendly and very helpful. If you work a 7 hours shift you get one 20mins break and an hour lunch break, I really liked that.

    Cons

Just have the tolerance to deal with managers asking you every hour or so if you opened any credit card, only con for me.
