I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have the ability to choose availability (days and times) depending on your hiring status
    Can advertise or swap shifts
Everyone can take up to 3 unavailable days each month

    Cons

Have to put in unabailable days 5 weeks in advance
If you call out you loose attendance points (1 for weekday and 2 for weekend) if you get to 0 you are let go. You earn half a point for every 2 weeks you work and don't call out.
    Physically demanding putting away clothing
Customers expect coupons to work on all items they don't so many become angry
Have to work midnight shifts during the holidays even if it is a part time position and work another job.
Even though you are supposed to get 3 unavailable shifts every month you cannot always take the days you want//need because they are key days you cannot take it off.

    Advice to Management

To check area schedules to ensure that weekend hours are equitable between part time and full time employees.

Treat associates differently, be willing to pitch in and help if needed. Tell associates if they are doing a good job.
