    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Store discounts, commission in some depts, pleasant customers. Ability to earn extra Mac Money during holidays.

    Cons

Brick & mortar stores losing business. Causes stress of layoffs or store closings. Even for FT, the employee has no control over work schedule, which changes constantly. Stores need to upgrade their interiors to attract customers. Just adding places to sit between depts would add to the custo.er experience

    Advice to Management

The customer experience isn't just about low prices. Upgrade the stores to make the customer feel pampered. The only thing keeping the customer shopping in the store is ambience. It is all about the experience.

  3. "Lousy Management Support. Disorienting software. Poor coordination with other departments"

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent environment for employees. A lot of boomers as employees. Minor pay raise. Good employee discount. Nice clothing. Has a Relaxed atmosphere for a Standing Only company.

    Cons

Lack of real management. The carrots are minis - there no real incentive to go the extra inch. Lip service to employee participation. And awful scheduling designed to discourage family life.

    Advice to Management

Employ professional sales management who coach staff to want to do better rather than scold because of targets not within reach. Localize the marketing. Fix the lighting.
