    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was the person setting up sales, changing prices, and merchandising the store. It was great being able to work independently in my own section, but we still got to know our team well. Management was always friendly and there to help when I needed.

Every so often we would get bagels and doughnuts in the morning, as well as occasional pot lucks.

    Cons

If you're looking for a mindless, repetitive, but easy job, you've found it. Let's just say it can get pretty boring.

    Pros

You have the opportunity to work in different departments and learn a little about each product.

    Cons

They don't have enough training to make each sales associate an expert in their area.

    Advice to Management

Put together training courses for each department so everyone can be successful.

    Pros

    cant think of any now

    Cons

What a horrible money grubbing cheap company. All the managers are mean old men and women who could care less about the employees and only about the sales. The coupons never work and youre graded on how many people you can convince to open a line of credit. the stores are always a mess and the management doesn't care. You get very little pay for the amount of work youll do with management and LP breathing down your neck and nitpicking the whole time.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount was 20 percent. The scheduling is very flexible cause you pick up shifts online. You can also swap shifts. managers aren't constantly next to you since its such a big store. It helped that they had a HR department.

    Cons

The sales goals, coupons NEVER working on anything and if they don't management expects you to break the rules and override it so the customer doesn't throw a hissy fit. The fitting rooms are normally a nightmare. some sale days require you to come in super early (7am) or close real late (2am!!!!) The store will be a ghost town. they also call you a million times if you're not scheduled a Saturday or Sunday so they can convince you to come in. management needs to listen to employees, very degrading and disrespectful people

    Advice to Management

Learn how to talk to employees nicely and reward them for their hard work, stop moving people to a different department every day

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount I suppose....even though they pay us little enough, do they really need to leech our money for us to wear their clothes too

    Cons

    Oh boy....

The 'flexible schedule' is a joke. I was hired for part time 12-25 hours a week, fully thinking I'd get at least 25. Who can work 12 hours weekly and only at 8.25 an hour? Get real Macy's. The training and expectations are ridiculous in comparison to pay and the so called 'your schedule.' It is very about them, and not you. Ever.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to future employees in interviews about having Sundays off and 'flexible hours'

    Pros

The associates are nice and fun to work with and the quality of the merchandise is above average. There is an extra employee discount and benefits are offered.

    Cons

Sales goals are made and everyone tries to get to the register so they can make their goal. Not a culture of "team player" but one of competition and rewards to those who can make customers sign up for credit cards.

    Advice to Management

There should be a way that we are encouraged to work as a team not against each other. The salary should be higher for a higher quality employee.

    Pros

Employees and management get along very well with each other. The job is very interactive always working with the customers to meet their needs/

    Cons

Their training is very quick. So a lot of what you have to learn you do so through experience not through any formal training/
