    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The way Macy's has set up their work schedule , by letting people bit on each others schedule if for a case of emergency you need the day off is the absolute best system I've ever experienced.

    Cons

It's very hard to actually land a FULL-TIME job here at Macy's. But I love everything about Macy's and thats why this is my 3rd consecutive year as a temporary holiday help store associate.

    Advice to Management

None to offer other than that I wish I could get a Permanent Part-Time position with this company. I would b a great investment.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people in my store are friendly, and the associate discount is nice. Macy's has the structure in place to be a really great employer with social and community impact.

    Cons

That said, the resources within that structure are underutilized. Corporate pressure for profit causes local managers to make decisions that leave stores under-staffed and, therefore, staff overworked. It is impossible to provide the best service possible when doing the job of three people, and the customers feel the lack, shop less, then corporate says make more profits, so the managers cut spending (staff)... it's a whole cycle. On-boarding, training, and staff communication are also areas in need of improvement.

    Advice to Management

Develop a more consistent training process independent of the corporate training videos. Develop better departmental and inter-departmental communication methods. Schedule more staff if you want your customer satisfaction score to go up. It just won't happen with an under-staffed store.

I worked at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Scheduling system is very easy to use
    Training is simple
Pay is usually slightly higher than minimum wage

    Cons

I don't know if it was just my location, but the focus on sales goals is so strong that other sales associates will either beg you to give them a higher amount transaction to meet their goal, or poach customers buying more expensive items from your line.

    Advice to Management

Provide more focus on actual customer service than sales goals.

    Pros

    Cons

They won't listen to your side of a situation. They just cut you off. Everyone's worried about their job and won't speak up for you. Very disrespectful

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees attitudes.
There are some serious issues in the Burbank sales management team and with some sales employees. But it comes from the top. I am very disappointed.
