I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Scheduling is flexible. As long as you don't break the rules and still have points, you're unlikely to get fired.

    Cons

Scheduling can be hassle though and picking up shifts doesn't come easy as well.

    Advice to Management

Give more hours. If you want high magic scores, schedule more than a couple people at a time.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Love working with the customers. There are many very interesting people from all over the world shopping. I try to make conversation light-hearted and memorable. The group of employees I work with are close-knit and we work hard to to understand each other and work as a team which makes the customer's visit more pleasant also.

    Cons

Having to tolerate employees that are are not there to contribute at the level of professionalism as the rest of the group. The focus of training for new people is always the register. Yet when they start working on the floor that is all they know. It is left to the seasoned employees to let the new ones know that there is more to the job than being a checkout clerk. Some refuse to do their part, which can bring conflict to an otherwise happy crew.

    Advice to Management

More attention to the new employees who are not pulling their weight and less snap-shot critiques of known good workers would be appreciated.
