    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Picked up a seasonal job here. Quick hire. Very friendly, nice people. Easy to learn on the job, very helpful to do so, and they expect you to make some mistakes while you learn. Management is a gem. These are really nice people to work for.

It's possible to move from department to department easily if another one needs you and you can show your worth. I'm still there and most seasonals are gone.

Managers will work with you to meet your schedule needs, despite what the "official" schedule says.

Really a super friendly place to work.

    Cons

It's a pain to have to clock in and out.

Parking during holiday season and weekends is WAY over on the other side of the mall and, if you close, means you need to walk outside the mall in the dark and rain. A bit silly too when there are 300+ free spaces on the third floor of the parking structure in the post-holiday weekends.

The system won't show you hours in other areas.

    Advice to Management

Warn people if the policy on parking changes... even your seasonal folks. Almost got a ticket because no one told me.

Think about raising pay a bit to be more competitive.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were great, they made the job bearable.

    Cons

horrible pay. Would not follow through on incentives. SO many call outs = long hours (always asked to stay over) . Rude/entitled customers. Understaffed. I could go on and on

    Advice to Management

Pay raise. Hire more people, the bottom line is if you don't have enough people working, employees will keep on quitting. No one wants to work long hours with rude customers and no help.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I do not see any pros. For a young woman here!

    Cons

Male employees can make remarks about how titties look good and they just deny it!

    Advice to Management

Maybe have the hr department handle it physically and verbally and not have hr hand it over to a male manager who lets them down easy. I quit because he just denied it and this was not a legit way to handle my case!

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a kind, happy, positive place to work. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive. As a developer, I have been able to work on a wide variety of projects and learn new technologies. There is always opportunity to grow and take on responsibility if that is what you want.

    Cons

It's a big company, so tech changes slowly. Some people get stuck in the same stacks with similar work for a long time. Some people like that, but it can also limit growth. They under-invest in technology infrastructure and focus more on delivering products/features, over long-term stability.

    Advice to Management

Actually invest in technology - improve infrastructure, tooling, growth.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is nice. The interview was simple and straight forward.

    Cons

Training was a bit unorganized. First you are trained on a computer for 1-2 days and then hands on, which isn't so bad, but then that all depends on the sales associate that is training you. It was like the blind leading the blind.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sick pay, nice people, associate discounts, paid lunch break, 15 mins break after every 3 hour, most of the executives are very helpful

    Cons

The pay is not given based on a persons experience nor the cost of living of the area is taken into consideration resulting in high turn over amongst employees .

    Advice to Management

Pay people according to the cost of living in the area and their experience
