I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Commission, at least in jewelery.
    Coworkers were pretty friendly.

    Cons

Majority of management seemed like people with power control issues. I feel like i did more than i was acknowledged for.

    Advice to Management

    Be people not robots.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely flexible ... hour long breaks.

    Cons

HORRIBLE PAY. $8.00 p/hour for all the B.S we deal with on a daily basis? just bad. The departments get so messy especially Intimate Apparel, Petites, Women's, and Kids. Managers harass you to clean it up and no matter how much you clean it never gets better because the customers are just a-holes. They expect you to greet, ring out, assist AND clean the whole store for only $8 an hour. And don't ever ask for a raise .... you're not getting one.

    Advice to Management

    Hop off our nuts.

    Pros

    Very convenient, quick and reliable.

    Cons

It seems that your profile is not easily accessible once you submit it. Also, it takes too long to answer all the questions while filling in your profile. Some of them are repetitive questions.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

some of the people i worked with were great, managers not overbearing, discounts when you buy food if your macy's is in a mall. never a dull day

    Cons

lots of time of your feet. always a ton to do, they push credit cards too hard, for the amount of work you do, starting pay isn't very great. scheduling can be a pain if youre a temp worker

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

I like their selection and selection is great for clothes, while not having to wear their own merchandise (since employee discount is only 20%).

    Cons

standing too long, I mean waterfalls coast up and down but I can't fathom why all of this paper is made.

    Advice to Management

Make college tuition remission more accessible and less restricted to executive development, like Apple Stores, BestBuy and others do for their part-time employees.

    Pros

Flexible schedules with the ability to swap shifts with co-workers as needed.
The employee discount is amazing, which is helpful for any other position if you get promoted.

    Cons

Understaffing along with the fact that the only policy they enforce is no theft. There are no reprimands for being late or not showing up for a shift.

    Advice to Management

I feel that Macy's should evaluate their employees more to see if they are a good fit in other positions aside from the position they applied for.
