I worked at Macy's part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Good working team members, management was easy to work with and be able to speak with about schedule, hours, pay.

    Cons

I would have like a raise when I was hired to go from seasonal to permanent. Full time for Macy's is 28 hours, needed more hours.

    Advice to Management

If hiring full time, let your employees know that full time is not meant as 40 hours.

I have been working at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

As a part-time employee here I had flexible working hours. Before I got on floor I had got a 2-day paid training in front of a computer which contained a little bit too much information and quizzes but not too bad. My manager and other associates were able to explain to me my duties and answer my questions all the time. I felt very helpful to work with them as a team.

    Cons

As a part-time employee here I got my hours assigned by managers every week. Sometimes I could get nearly 30-hour work a week but once I didn't get my hours assigned for two weeks (or reassigned in a short notice). Well, as a part-time employee I guess it is expected.

    Advice to Management

That would be more efficient for me as a part-time employee if I could pick up my times online on my own instead of talking with managers back and forth on phone. =)

I worked at Macy's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Shifts are shown online and you can request to switch shifts with other people on your team. The people I worked with were fun to talk to and made the shifts seem to go by faster. Lunch breaks if you work more than a certain amount of hours. 10-15 minute breaks each shift. 20% employee discount. Pays a reasonable amount.

    Cons

Felt unprepared before I started the job. I was hired as a recovery worker, so I didn't have a specific area, but helped return clothes, tidy displays, and make the store look presentable. I wasn't sure where everything in the store was located, nor was I trained in any specific area, so I felt like I couldn't help customers when they asked for assistance. Felt like a number, rather than a person.

    Advice to Management

Assign recovery workers to a certain area in the store so they can be more assistance to customers.
