I have been working at Macy's (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Salary with the counter manager sales override.

    Cons

Stressful Job! A lot of responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Don't stress employees for Star Rewards!

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun, fast paced retail work environment.

    Cons

Few opportunities for advancement in small market if you are unable to relocate. Be prepared to work weekends and holidays.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The discount & "Macy's Money" are great.
My department manager is very supportive (but totally over-worked).
Flexibility with scheduling to a certain degree.

    Cons

The pressure to open new charge accounts is unreasonable.
The constant barrage of sales is ridiculous.
    The extended hours are gruelling.
...and, unfortunately, alot of the prestige once associated with Macy's is dwindling. The difference between Macy's, Kohl's, & JCPenney is getting harder to discern...it wasn't always that way.

    Advice to Management

While operating a profitable store is important, staffing stores with knowledgeable sales asociates and (plenty of) competent managers will lead to more success in the long run.
