    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff was wonderful. Everyone got along. I was up for a raise Aftet 6 months. I'm considering going back with them.

    Cons

Bad morale. Stealing. Not enough one on one communication. Salaries were in balanced. Between management and staff. No break room and barely any breaks

    Advice to Management

Get more involved with the lower staff as the jobs around them couldn't be done with out them. It is only the right thing to do

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work wasn't hard and it was enjoyable getting to talk to people.

    Cons

The store was always under-staffed, the pay was bogus (after taxes I made less than minimum wage), the management wasn't helpful, and many of the associates were lazy/incompetent/rude.

    Advice to Management

There isn't a mechanism in place to fire people immediately if they don't show up for their shift... which is pretty crazy considering every other job on the planet would do that if you just decided not to show up for work. I can't tell you how many times I blew off my shift because all I would lose were a few "attendance points" and nothing would actually happen. Also, scheduling people to work should rest with the managers in the store and not with managers higher up. I can't tell you how many times we were under-staffed or over-staffed because upper management didn't realize that the actual store managers should do the scheduling. In my opinion, management is far too lenient with lazy/rude associates. If customers frequently complain about an associate being rude to them, why do you keep them on?? It's a burden on all of us when there are associates who treat customers poorly and we are left to pick up the pieces. Also, the flex team is a nice idea but in reality it means you have a lot of people working in departments they know nothing about.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team to work with. All lower level positions look out for each other.

    Cons

Under appreciated by store manager who only cares about sales/ numbers.

    Advice to Management

Need new management personnel in two positions.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Macy's offered flexible hours throughout the holiday season. They worked around both my school schedule as well as my other job's hours. The manager team was great and very friendly. Overall the sales teams were quite charismatic.

    Cons

The downside of working at Macy's was that although they offered to evaluate employees at the end of the seasonal/holiday hiring period, only one or two were offered to stay on permanently.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I made money, rapid promoting from within

    Cons

very competitive atmosphere amongst co-workers. Amongst the higher level associates there is a sort of club between the managers, and if you're "teachers pet" you don't get much flak, but if you're not a part of the club, the higher ups look down on you.

    Advice to Management

    Stop giving preferential treatment

    Cons

I didn't like working on the weekends.

    Advice to Management

You did do a good job of giving valuable feedback. I was not interested in progressing to management.
