I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There's good pay, very nice co workers, and it's just a flexible job to have. I've been working here for a month now and I enjoy it

    Cons

We need equal scheduling in departments, sometimes it feels as if there's more people in a certain department then others

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Weekly pay (Friday)
    Relexed Dress Code
    20% - 30% Discount

    Cons

    No life / work balance
    Managers play favorites
    Poor Pay
    Expensive Health Benefits
    Unreasonable Sales Goals
Macys Credit Card sales tactics are pushy and APR is too high.

    Advice to Management

Store is never properly cleaned unless there is a “corporate” visit scheduled. You need to see what the day to day operation is like and do unannounced visits.
Morning “rally” is boring and usually uninformative.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits and matching 401k

    Cons

    So many to list.
    Pay is awful
    Management is awful
They expect you to give your life up.

Visual security in which I was training were getting hired in making $2 more after the new CEO came in and didn’t raise the Detective.

And the cherry on top.... expect a .10 raise every year after getting told your getting a big raise all year long and the store does “great”

    Advice to Management

No advice to management. The comany overall is the worst company I’ve ever worked for.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

    Nice co-workers and loyal staff

    Cons

Front line managers are non existent

    Advice to Management

Clean up the store, monitor front line managers more closely, don’t cram so much on the floor at once, messy sales sections are unattractive

    Nice co-workers, Macy's Money

    Cons

Seasonal shoppers -- they are grumpy

I have been working at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can pick up shifts and work up to 60 hours per week ( seasonal ). Weekly paycheck. Fast-paced. Managers are nice and look after the well-being of all associates especially the seasonal one.

    Cons

NA. I really could not think of any not so good thing about working at Macy’s as a seasonal associate. I am just glad I applied here for the season to get extra money.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, awesome co-workers, employee discount. I only worked prior to the store opening so I didn't have to deal with customers.

    Cons

Management! The management at the location I worked at were terrible - inconsistent, almost never available, and honestly didn't seem to know much about merchandising.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up, listen to your employees, be open to new ideas

I worked at Macy's as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great people and culture; plenty of opportunities to move up if you show a good work ethic and interest;

    Cons

Disconnect between different departments leads to mistakes from miscommunication (lack of awareness on coupons/discounts, price difference between store and website); lack of associate socialization

    Advice to Management

Make sure you know how to do what you are telling other people to do; otherwise, you have less respect from your team!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people that work here are great and for the most part are very hard working for lower salaries. I have made lifelong friends.

    Cons

Too many sales to set. Take one sale down and put up a new one. This is too confusing and time waster

    Advice to Management

    Less sales

    Pros

Staff was really friendly and accommodating. Flexible hours were offered and the atmosphere was really fun.
If it had not closed I may still be working there.

    Cons

Company policies were not conducive to actually preventing theft. It was more of a catch, recover and release atmosphere. Pay sucked for what you were required to do.

    Advice to Management

    Better compensation!
