    I worked at Macy's part-time

    Pros

You get to pick your own hours online to work and an hour break.

    Cons

I worked at Macys for the seasonal time from October to December. It was my first time working like at a big department store and they just had me on the register and on the sales floor cleaning up. I was all over the place to be honest. Low pay for what you put up with during the holidays.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible Scheduling
    Kind Management Staff
    Room for growth
    Engaging colleagues
    Enjoyable work environment
Wonderful lunches (1 hour lunch for 8 hour shift)
Easily managed point of sale system

    Cons

Sometimes rules change, or you are told something and it isn't correct, but that's more or less just something that happens in every job due to miscommunication.

Supplies can be limited at times, but that's only because upper management is working on making a baseline for how much should be spent per month on certain items.

The pay could definitely use some improvement, but if you are willing to put in the work, the pay will come along with it. Give it time.

It can take management a minute to get to your station if an issue arises with a customer... but generally there are only two managers on staff at a time... So I really can't blame them at all

    Advice to Management

Continue to find value in all of your employees and they will continue to find value in you.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Weekly coaching, good peers, cafe on site with grill food and daily specials, good supervisors (however they are not hired within and they don't have good experience).

    Cons

Managers aren't very involved and the point/credit attendance system is very flawed. It's described as a 'no fault policy' and this basically means that it does matter that life happens to them and there's no such thing as an excused absence. You start with 8 and you only earn .5 credits every 2 weeks of perfect attendance. Not enough vacation days are offered (only about 6-10 days a year), and it's dependent on the average hours worked per week. The upstairs where all of the desks are is never vacuumed.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in the people you manage and work to be the voice of your employees.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Environment not stuffy, Huge Call Center, and Cafeteria. Most of the Specialists are helpful. Facilitator knowledgeable & friendly

    Cons

Some of the Specialists and Leads you call for help are rude and if you work late shift seems have to park really far out in the boonies.

    Advice to Management

Feel that some Leads need to be trained more as when I ask questions my Lead doesn't seem to know the answers and directs me to seek advice from specialist line. As a Lead I personally feel they should be able to answer any work related questions
