    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was the person setting up sales, changing prices, and merchandising the store. It was great being able to work independently in my own section, but we still got to know our team well. Management was always friendly and there to help when I needed.

Every so often we would get bagels and doughnuts in the morning, as well as occasional pot lucks.

    Cons

If you're looking for a mindless, repetitive, but easy job, you've found it. Let's just say it can get pretty boring.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only thing was the weekly paychecks

    Cons

Mostly horrible management. Credit Cards are terrible and the pressure put on employees to solicit them was worse.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of the clouds and get down to earth with your employees personally care about their well being. Quit caring about the numbers and pay more attention to the situations that need tending to. Also start beleiving the employees more over the customers.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Outstanding ability to multi task, inspire, communicate, delegate and set clear expectations up, down and across the managerial group to maximize execution levels to highest level.

    Cons

Strive to create dynamic set ups to inspire customer sales which may go above and beyond a vendor or company direction.... my viewpoint being that that information is a starting point and/or minimum expectation vs. stopping point.

    Advice to Management

Meet commitments and have the knowledge and experience to properly access and commit to a timeline.... and always meet as closely as possible while communicating any new challenges or hurdles.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, .cheerful environment , rewards for hard work , employee recognition rallies, etc.

    Cons

Low wages for extreme amount of work that one is expected to do. Multiple times Understaffed in departments.

    Advice to Management

Once properly staff that should limit customer complaints of "no one to help me"and thus improve on Macy's "magic"score.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Some of the nicest people you will ever work with. Local management is great!

    Cons

Scheduling system is very much less than nimble. It takes well over a month for the system to catch up with a change of employment status, which can cause significant difficulties for employees and management. Also, I suspect there are some severe glitches in the system when it comes to proper floor coverage. Not enough people scheduled to work on busy days and too many on quieter days.

Pay rate is simply not enough to live on.

    Advice to Management

    Fix the scheduling system!

Like I said, I really adore local management. The issues are with corporate.

Coworkers steal your sales and are very rude to their fellow employees and customers. Its also very cliquey.

    Advice to Management

Penalize employees for stealing sales not cleaning behind themselves, and being rude.
