    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun upbeat place to work, co-workers were fun to work with. Management was great to work with from department to general manager. The best retail job I have ever had sad to see places like this closing due the changing times

    Cons

Had to leave due to major medical issue not related to job. Low wages

    Advice to Management

Sad to see a great American retail going through hard times. This is one of great ones I hope doesn’t totally close up.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clinique gives amazing gratis multiple times a year. Macys discounts are nice, coworkers are great, sales rock, you get your discount on everything.

    Cons

Management sucks, they yell about everything. They have unrealistic expectations. All they care about is credit card loyalty, and goals.

    Advice to Management

Don't just yell at employees. Coach them like you are suppose to.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Room for growth in the company, great team, PTO for part time employees, employee discount is very good, fragrance 50% of discount twice a year, discount on cosmetics, good management, seasonal opportunities to work in other departments for pay raise, attendance point system, most managers are helpful with attendance exceptions, empowering

    Cons

demanding work, alot to recover and clean up, often rude customers, hr team was very unhelpful at store level but at corporate level they were great

    Advice to Management

Don't eliminate recovery team like my store had, hire more recovery team members, hire seasonal employees that actually want to work and are reliable, try to prevent a pileup of clothing rods so that employees are not overwelmed, understand how often employees are overwhelmed

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team members and the manager were kind and good to work with, the job is not too hard but can require physical exertion. Depending on individual strengths, can be assigned to unloading boxes from the truck or something easier like attaching security devices to high value items. The pay is comparable to similar positions with other companies, but the employee discounts were pretty good.

    Cons

Due to the hard times the company is dealing with as a brick and mortar retail business, getting employed full-time was nigh impossible; most of the other team members worked a second job

    Advice to Management

Not much to add, the management did a great job providing guidance and looked out for me.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

employee discount, fairly relaxed workplace, simple work

    Cons

poor management, high management turnover, tedious and disorganized training, poorly trained administrative team, pay is not competitive with other retailers, poor communication throughout store

    Advice to Management

Macy's has a strong reputation however the customer experience has declined significantly over the years, store policies have changed to the brand's detriment and the management team has become disorganized and dogmatic in what seems like a scramble to regain traction in the marketplace. I have worked at a local store on and off for several years and this past year has been the worst. Employees are treated as if they are disposable and that influences the company negatively in every regard.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working there because the staff was very friendly and helpful. Macy's employees got %20 off of purchases which included purchases directly from Macy's and restaurants affiliated with Macy's. Getting 20% off allowed me to buy name brand items that normally I would not have thought about buying. (Some stuff was way out of price range without the percentage off.)

    Cons

Excessive walking. Customers can return merchandise anywhere in the store. If they bought it in homed goods they can return it at a make-up counter. So, when this was done, it was our jobs to return the item to the appropriate department. At Christmas time, a lot of returns means a lot of walking all over the store....ugh!

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people were nice, we eventually got in some good management after going through people for awhile. Good discount. They’ll keep you around if you’re willing.

    Cons

Low hours, high turnover rate, Not enough pay. Not enough room to move up when everyone isn’t sure whether your store is closing or not. You end up spending all your money.

I worked at Macy's (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Macy’s offers a pretty good discount to their employees, when the friends and family discount is offered daring certain times of the year.

    Cons

Managers will give hours to team members that are favored instead of equally. I worked there almost 3 years and was not offered a part time position.

    Advice to Management

    Add more motivating encouragement
