    I worked at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High touch HR team invested in growth and development of associates. Philanthropic and diversity/inclusion initiatives are an organic part of the culture. Newly implemented flexible work schedule, parental leave and relaxed dress code.

    Cons

As a subsidiary of larger Macy's corporation it is a complex organization to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Focus on getting management comfortable with new initiatives that support work/life balance.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly people, employee discount, work/life balance, good learning experience

    Cons

Lot of shake ups in thee company which don't bode well for employee confidence, employee morale is low (depending on which group you're part of), some areas of the business are bloated while other's need more growth opportunities

    Advice to Management

Even though many people in management (at senior level) are new, don't forget about the cultural values that made Macy's what it is today (a place where people want to come to work).

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company has some very talented people working for them.

    Cons

When you have your direct manager offering no support and targeting you, you are not able to get any support. You are put into a position and when you ask for training you are told they are to busy to send you out for training but write you up. Upper management seemed to have a problem with female Directors and did everything they could to make their life difficult and make them loose their career.

    Advice to Management

You should look at your VP and how they are treating their Directors. They are not held to a standard it seams when it comes to directors. They are allowed to be unprofessional and discredit you to your team and then write you up for rumors and hearsay. They make the eviroment feel very hostile and almost like you are being bullied.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company events, People, Internal & External Education, Good benefits, Good employee discount. Being part of a legacy brand with such a strong influence in culture

    Cons

Extreme micro management. No room for career advancementLack of diversity in the corporate office. Need to work on Work/Life Balance. It discusses but VP's don't care about it. Constant job cuts have had a negative effect on morale.

    Advice to Management

Give directors more opportunities to grow in their career. All VP's should take leadership classes. Change Bonus structure for directors.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Without pride, one does not have emotional attachment—very easy job schedule and no reason to work too hard. The second I leave the building, I’m off.

    Cons

They will not provide proper supplies, workspace, lighting, etc for me to do my job properly. It’s a terrible joke. On a personal note: our kitchen has no bottom to its drawer and the handles are falling off (apparently, it’s been that way for years). It would cost $100 for a task rabbit to fix things to merely PRETEND to appear to care about the internal value and well-being of your employees, their workspace, and their happiness throughout the day. Need I say more?

    Advice to Management

“Brand Loyalty” starts within. Until some major changes are made to demonstrate any value in your own employees as a company, no one will care about your business and layalty will continue to fall.

    Pros

Collaborative environment. 20% discount. Parade and fireworks tickets. Dotcom up and coming. Many different avenues to move around the company.

    Cons

Lack of work life balance. No flexible work schedule. There's only a work from home policy when they want/need you to work from home. Senior management has old-school way of thinking.

    Pros

great place to learn if you are twenty something; lots of things can be learning and there are opportunities to move wihting the company

    Cons

purging everyone over 50 via pushing for early retirement and openly telling boomers they won't have web training (!) Company is shrinking and has an ID crisis... is is a store or is it a website?

    Advice to Management

Sell the stores and become a website since you no longer have a team that knows how to support them. train people over 50 rather purging them because you think they are too old to learn something new
