    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible schedule and also discounts!

    Cons

Long periods of standing around with nothing to do, busiest times are special sales days, holidays, etc.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Advice to Management

stop playing favorites and do your job

I worked at Macy's (More than a year)

    Pros

Its almost a guarantee that you will get hired. Management is great.

    Cons

You do a lot more work than what your description says, customers at macys are awful, it is NOT as easy as just working a cash register, they really work you and dont pay enough. you rarely get to work alongside other people

    Advice to Management

Designate specific roles. Isolating employees puts everyone in a bad mood

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are not really any pros to this job in my opinion, just a lot of work for a thankless job and little pay. Sometimes, helping customers can be rewarding.

    Cons

    Low Pay
    Ungrateful Management
Little to no opportunity for advancement
    Few benefits

    Advice to Management

Please work on providing opportunity for advancement to hardworking employees. It is very frustrating to work hard every day with only tacit appreciation for my efforts. There is a reason the majority of workers at this company want to leave the second they are able to secure a different job.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

*The 20% employee discount is great

    Cons

    * Full-time and part-time fragrance commission employees allowed to dictate that on-call employees (who also earn commission) are NOT to ring any commissionable items ... making the on-call employees ring commissionable items under the full-time and part-time employee ID numbers ... thus stealing their commissions.

*Management aware but turns a blind eye to the practice.

*You can break rules left and right if you are getting customers to sign up for a Macy's credit card. That is the most valued attribute an employee can have ... to talk a customer into opening a 27%+ APR credit card.

*Our bathrooms are usually filthy. I have gotten many customer complaints about them. I always go next door to Lord & Taylor to use their bathroom.

    Advice to Management

Most employees have stopped telling you their concerns because nothing at all gets done about them. You have the opportunity to make this a really great store ... don't lose it.

    Pros

Great pay. Encourages independence. Friendly management.

    Cons

Management kind of throws you into working without giving you a lot of insight into what you're doing. There's a lot of down time, which could be a pro for some, but was a con for me because I was bored.

    Advice to Management

Please let new employees shadow other employees, or have someone alongside them as training, and not just computer training. It would help a lot.
