    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Macy's was a great experience for me and taught me lessons pertaining to my field of study. I learned communication skills, the business of retail and sales, and how to create a healthy and efficient work environment. The majority of my managers and coworkers were always very thoughtful and willing to lend a hand with whatever I needed when business would really pick up. My interview was very calm and relaxing and the pay was great. I worked at Macy's for about two years and my overall experience was great! Working for such a big retail store really benefitted me as a fashion design major. My position offered real life examples for things I was learning in the classroom, as well as helping to pay for tuition and supplies.

    Cons

While the majority of my mangers and coworkers were great, there were a few that weren't so great. This is a common problem in all work settings, but with my particular case these type of employees were easily avoidable due to the fact that every associate is assigned to a department. So simply giving an excuse to recover your area or assist a customer was an easy out for those dreadful moments. In addition, the customers weren't always happy with everyone's service but that's to be expected in any given customer service setting. As long as we tried our best nine out of ten times the customer would leave happy and satisfied with their purchase. While there were a few bad things that came with working as a sales associate the pros definitely out shined the cons.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Macy's has a good costumer service . They are all friendly and willing to help out with what ever you are looking for .

    Cons

Macy's have coupons that offer to only Macy's cardholders. However these coupons are not eligible for several things! Which get costumer really upset!

    Advice to Management

I feel like Macy's management can be way better. Most of the time they want accociates to do all the work when the store has many costumers who are shopping. They expect us to open an amount of credits when either the costumer has a credit card already or the costumer does not want to open one what so ever.

    Pros

Fellow employees, they sell nice things and you get an employee discount (30%).

    Cons

Management was bad. Employee input was nonexistent, no real promotions. All management seemed too fake, their happiness was fake.
