    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team their maintains the areas moving and give great efforts plus are doing their very best to give customers high standard of services,
First ever experience working with the company and i weren't ever disappointed of being welcomed.

    Cons

eh i guess when closing and you got a pickup/ride that doesn't know of employees exit, it makes a slightly few mindsets get frustrated to know where to arrive for non yet drivers license employees.

    I worked at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Employee discount (with a Macy's credit or debit card, of course); management was easy to work with; easy to swap shifts; paid training; training covers policies on dealing with difficult customers and other tough situations; company policies were pretty clear about what to do; it's retail work so experiences change drastically based on the people. my personal experiences at this location were mostly positive; I don't think this job could support someone for long-term but as a part-time job while attending school or something it would probably work well

    Cons

store was very competitive about sales goals but no real rewards for the associates meeting those goals; training was done alone with a computer, which is good if thats how you want to learn; pay was about average for retail

    Advice to Management

better supervision over departments. especially when there is an employee working who is known to cause problems; maybe have some sort of orientation or something for new employees other than the temp hires for the shopping season

I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - You get paid weekly
    - You can choose your own shifts when you want to work
    - They will hire you right on the spot

    Cons

-There is no training. You sit in a room, watch videos and then they send you out onto the sales floor. It's incredibly nerve wracking
    - There were never any shifts available on the choose your shift website
    - They are obsessed with recovery. They have so many employees in the store already doing this that I would just walk around the store doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Focus on training your employees instead of recovery and STAR

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get discounts on everything, and are notified before everybody about the coming sales

    Cons

Stressful schedule, managers are very bossy and pressure you to open credit for customers which is basically another credit card for the poor customer which also means more money/credit spent for something you could buy for much less price in a different store. I left the job because i felt guilty manipulating people that the Macy's credit is good and they should get it.

    Advice to Management

Change your strategies, be happy with what you got and respect your employees.

Former Employee - Virginia in Fairfax, VA

    Pros

Commission (I made about $13-15/ hour during the holiday season and $9-10/hour during the spring)
    People you work with
Flexibility when it comes to scheduling (great for college students)

    Cons

During the holiday season, they do make you work some crazy hours, but that's normal with retail

    Advice to Management

I've never had any issues with management. They were all friendly and I was surprised that the general managers knew my name within the first couple weeks I started working.

    Pros

    - Ability to advance
    - Flexible Hours
    - Good Discount
    - Standard work environment

    Cons

    - Quality of your work can be and usually is dependent on others

    Pros

I enjoyed learning new trends and having the ability to be creative at work. The employee discount is a plus as well.

    Cons

Stagnant workplace, very little room for growth or promotion. Pay isn't sufficient for the amount of work expected to be completed.
