I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Macy's has been the friendliest group of people I have had the pleasure to work with. I realize this varies store to store, but I truly do love the people I work with. Management really cares about the company and the business and the employees are great to work with.

    Cons

The job security is the scariest thing about working at Macy's. Currently in the process of closing 100 stores a lot of people are worried about their future with the company, myself included.

    Advice to Management

Continue the great job of recognizing your employees and keep things fresh and different.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interview was quick,Managers very friendly Time went by fast because you are constantly working. Employees willing to help new people

    Cons

Supervisor was very rude at this location
Discount card must be preloaded or the discount card must be included in your Macy's credit card

    Advice to Management

Remove any supervisors who think they are irreplaceable

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The teams are great, the management is friendly, and the store was number one in the district for the 2014 year. The schedules are incredibly flexible and give many opportunities to balance work-home life, and is an excellent place for full or part-time students.

    Cons

Low starting pay with no opportunity for raises (even with an excellent score card). Management's main focus is on credit, and does not care much about lazy workers. Busy sale days are a guaranteed hassle with a lot of recovery to do the following day. Sale days are also indicators that you will not have time to take your 15 minute break(s), and that the lunches will most likely be hours behind schedule.

I worked at Macy's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    can choose schedule you want

    Cons

pay, hours, standing on feet for long periods, some rude floor managers and other associates who take advantage of seasonal employees in cosmetics department because they earn commission

    Advice to Management

Value temp/seasonal employees - watch for permanent associates who try to make more commissions through seasonal temp and seasonal employees
