I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Macy's is RICH with tradition and heritage which makes you feel very proud to be a member of an American Icon. Macy's has a lot of power and weight in the industry which makes it fun to do your job. Macy's understands how important it is to truly focus on the customer and make "Magic" with everything you do. It isn't all about numbers, its about positive customer experiences which ultimately lead to results.

    Cons

Like any huge company, there are redundancies with jobs, which makes it difficult to get an answer to a problem or question. Although Macy's tries to move faster, due to the companies size, we often miss business opportunities that smaller competitors act quicker on. Macy's size and power is its greatest strength but also its greatest weakness.

    Advice to Management

Macy's is a truly fun company to work for however Macy's executives (not all) have difficulty embracing change, especially tenured members, making it difficult to innovate.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Insurance good, small discount but can use coupons with it

    Cons

Hot before 9 am, no air conditioning, management will drive you crazy expecting so much work in little time with out much help

    Advice to Management

Give more hours to support for markdowns and merchandising. If you aren't going to demand the workers stay and put away dressing rooms and keep floor organized then fulfillment needs help finding items and it effects all of support.

    Pros

gratis, formal training, events, commission, cash tips, samples, consistent hours, interactive schedules, insurance, 401k, DJ, store wide events with entertainment and food, monthly employee parties, help from vendors

    Cons

never enough cleaning supplies, attendance point system, inconsistent product shipment, stockroom is dangerous, bathrooms are disgusting, not enough department supplies, not enough store training, unfair raises, not enough training for all brands, not knowing the vendor schedules,

    Advice to Management

more in depth training for new hires, more attendance points to begin with, better and fair raises, hold your counter managers accountable, cold calling doesn't get clients in, have more of the store support events in every department,

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great for teenagers that want to make money and live near the store.

    Cons

Hours are not guaranteed and pay is not good. receiving manager is awful and Job consisted of many things that are not relevant to job title. started during the busy holiday time of the year working 8 hour shifts but then after the holidays the shifts started to get smaller. There is absolutely no room for advancement in this position.
