    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Decent benefits
-Disaster pay and payed time off
    -Opportunity for job advancement
    -You are constantly active
    - For the most part, very friendly staff
    -Management is very centered

    Cons

-You are expected to pick up the slack
-Finishing your work doesn't necessarily mean taking it easy for the rest of the day.
-There's an understanding to take your time doing your work or work more than you had to.
-Required skills for the position very from store to store
    - Expect to go and help other stores
    - Lay offs

    Advice to Management

Understand what your responsibilities are and make clear and precise goals and expectations of your employees. Give clear direction of the daily tasks and duties of every employee and make extra time for mistakes, because they occur very frequently. Communication with the rest of the team is very important , but mostly forgotten.

    Pros

Early sched. Once you learn the job you are able to leave on time -3pm. It’s nice to have full afternoons. executives start off with 4 wks pto plus one comp week to use at your discretion.

    Cons

Holiday season is brutal and they keep cutting jobs. Also mtm is the first level of senior executive with them so a lot gets dumped on you.

    Advice to Management

Hold your sms accountable- yes we all have to work together, but them dropping the ball shouldn’t have to land on mtms to fix for them. And just because us leaving at 3 seems early to you doesn’t mean it is. You try getting there at 5/6 am every day.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Still friends with some of my coworkers and we helped each other get through the day.

    Cons

Low pay, high turnover. Management doesn't care about you. Needed a second job to make ends meet because pay is so low and chances for advancement are scarce, unless you know whose butt to kiss.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved the people, the excitement in our department....a real team to meet goals ,

    Cons

Schedules were controlled, I was told flexible schedule but rarely got requested days off that conflicted with my day job.

    Advice to Management

I was hired under the impression I would have a set schedule . It was constantly changed ... sometimes the day before without notice. I was unable to plan dr appt on days off because of these changes .
