    Pros

    Loved the people, culture and work/life balance. Internal promotions are available if you work hard and they strive to keep those they consider to be top talent no matter the circumstance.

    Cons

    Retail industry instability creates concern for longevity in any position.

    Pros

    Leadership is intentionally changing! New president and CHRO. Strong BRAND Plan and people. On target north star strategy. Wall Street onboard. . Great online app. Stores are inconsistent.

    Cons

    Perception. Still perceived as your mothers store. Slow opportunity for growth in existing areas. Strong for new areas data analytics, ai and machine learning

    Advice to Management

    Increase social media presence utilizing the change agents in the company and leverage external sources FAST!

    Pros

    Employee discount, being able to pick up and advertise shifts to meet ypur need.

    Cons

    PAY, managers are always on you to do something when they do nothing. Opening really late during the holiday even when there are barely customers around. HR staying open until store close.

    Advice to Management

    Do your job, period. Stop telling your associates what to do like a dog and listen to them and work with them. Try to push higher up when you get the chance to voice your employees concern instead of trying to sweep everything under the rug and make things look glassy when there is a walk through.

    Pros

    The people on the floor make this company! I loved working with each and everyone of them. They made me want to come into work and make a difference for them each and everyday

    Cons

    HR leadership team and Management puts on a good front of getting along. There is a lot of back stabbing, lying and gossip. No one trust anyone, all at the expense of the employees which is so sad.

    Advice to Management

    Go back to the hotel business, where you came from

    Pros

    Lots of great growth opportunities, they like to promote from within. Great employee benefits like PTO, employee discount, 401k, and flexible work schedule. Executives receive additional benefits as well. I enjoyed being an HR Business Partner for Macys and for the most part I was able to make my own schedule. Occasionally I would work from home which was really nice too.

    Cons

    It's somewhat of a lonely thankless position. While we are business partners and a big part of our job is developing leaders we are not recognized very often and we are not bonus eligible. In addition, the pay is not very good for HRBP's. The best way to make money is to come in from the outside, negotiate a high salary and once you make it "in" get promoted A LOT!

    Advice to Management

    Pay your most loyal talented HR employees a wage that matches their experience external or not.

    Macy's is a great place to advance your career if you are willing to work super hard.

    Cons

    It's not easy to miss family holidays and have low work/life balance but you will definitely be rewarded for the hard work you put in
