I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers, extra employee discount, and great Human Resource department

    Cons

Slower and slower retail, stock is not replenished for small cosmetics counters in middle America

    Advice to Management

It is a shame they way Macys is trending and recording their business. All the stores are basically becoming warehouse jobs.

I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I have worked for Macy’s for almost 8 years at 3 different locations. The store I’m currently employed at is a top 50 store in the country and it is fun. If the store meets the path growth incentive quarterly everyone gets a bonus. It’s easy to swap shifts if something doesn’t work out for you (no manager needed). The pay is great for retail and if you show you work hard you will get noticed.

    Cons

If you work at top 50 performing store expect to work sporadic hours.

    Advice to Management

The issues of cliques in cosmetics need to be addressed.

I worked at Macy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As a manager you actually have a lot a freedom to be creative to come up with ways to be successful. You get a lot of training and you get to work with your teams to successful. There are a lot of good benefits and rewards working there.

    Cons

The company puts more value in hiring young college grads with no experience over seasoned retail veterans. I saw the company go from being focused on brands to focus on discounts. Stores became messy.

    Advice to Management

Realize your most important asset is your people and stores that are understaffed do not look good or run well.
