I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)
Pros
There are hardly any positive points
Cons
- The managers make you work way too much than you are expected to work.
- Staff is not friendly at all. They make inside jokes which makes you feel uncomfortable
- If you work with full heart and soul, the will start to misuse you
- Pay is very less compared to the work quantity
I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Macy money and good sales
Chance to make friends and get some experience in sales
Working with multiple brands
A good chance of moving up the ladder
Working for a huge, reputable, and well recognized store
Cons
Stress of working retail
Management could be more on the same page
When you first start seasoned employees that have been there a long time really size you up and aren't the most welcoming but it gets better if they realize you aren't useless
Advice to Management
Get it together
I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 8 years)
Pros
Steady work, could choose shifts, steady pay check enjoyed my job.
Cons
Overbearing store mngmt, company is doing bad. Remaining people don't know what day will be their last. Layoffs every year. More stores will close not if its when. When stores close in your area you will be laid off. Macy's not what it use to be.
Advice to Management
Was alright till you get laid off unexpectedly out of no where than escorted to your car. The company as a whole is doing bad and expect more layoffs. The only people that are safe are upper mngmt. Being on the team is good till its your time to get laid off.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Store discount and I worked with some great people who are dedicated.
Cons
The financial status of Macy's has created a panic situation with regard to resources to accomplish the workload. Expectations are beyond unrealistic. Work/life balance dos not exist. Running out of bags, paper, pens, and most supplies because supply budgets are drastically cut. Store leaders are burdened with impossible expectations and give no support from executive leadership. In fact by contrast, store leaders are constantly being slammed with negative feedback and threats.
Advice to Management
Recognize that you have dedicated ad talented people working for you that are not responding to being blamed for the failure of the company.
I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)
Pros
Their are no pros little pay with expectations that's too high for managers that don't train properly and the managers are so unprofessional they will gossip and tell the whole store your business
Cons
The managers don't care about their employees they don't explain anything to you they just show you videos and put you on the floor they expect to much from you with broken equipment an low staff managers are never on the floor they fire people for reasons that could have been prevented if they did they job right and gave them proper training
Advice to Management
Stop firing people because you don't do your job correctly if you train and you have an employee that goes above mad beyond and you still fire they because you didn't do your job right. It wrong
I have been working at Macy's (More than 3 years)
Pros
They have a great flexible schedule
Cons
Employees at the Jersey City, NJ location are not appreciated, trying to get a promotion and move up is EXTREMELY hard, they rather have people from other stores and from outside take positions that employees from the same store can benefit from.
Advice to Management
Take care of the employees there.
I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)
Pros
20% Discount. Access to some good resources and other discounts. Learned a lot. Get to see all sides of the businesss.
Cons
High turnover for officers and management so always hiring. Lack of communication. Little work life balance. Low pay. Expensive health benefits.
Pros
Its very easy to pick your own hours and change them . the most flexible system I've seen giving the employee charge of their own time slots.
Cons
you can move around so much that the new sales person in the new department doesn't have a goal or set of job responsibilities.
Advice to Management
give every one a task at start of shift so there are no arguments over who does what.
I have been working at Macy's (Less than a year)
Pros
Good work life balance. Respectable upper level management.
Cons
Not enough assistance. No benefits. Not enough money.
Advice to Management
More benefits & incentives.
