I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Commission is a plus, if you can decipher their draw against policy
    Management is great
Having an actual HR department is amazing when working retail
Almost impossible to get fired if you show up and do average work

    Cons

I have had scheduling mix ups with the Macy's Insite system... Something like this could cause huge issues if the department is understaffed
I work on commission and they seem to overstaff our department, it really makes working a lot more frustrating to have to constantly compete with fellow associates
Not a stable paycheck (commission) so do not rely on the paycheck being anything above the draw

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing

    Pros

There were very flexible with schedules which help when you are balanceing work/life issues. They did a lot of promoting within the company.

    Cons

They are continually in a process of change so it makes it hard to be consistent with employees because the policies and procedures are changing on what seems like a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to really talk to your associates and get a good feeling of what the employee moral is. Your associates want to feel like they are important and they matter to you.

    Pros

The people are great to work with. The shifts offered flexible hours.

    Cons

Unfortunately, scheduling time off was difficult, especially during holidays. There was not much room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    More advancement opportunities.
