    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Co., the nice family of co-workers. The benefits, the personal insight account to manage the weekly schedule.

    Cons

Managers than have being there for a while are not appreciative of good employees

    Advice to Management

Need new management with a fresh thinking. Smart ones that can actually make employees feel motivated. Also more professional ones that don't look like they come to work in their pajamas.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Macys welcomes new members with open arms. Employees see the best behaviors in the beginning from store leaders. Macy has a huge legacy with brick and mortar stores.

    Cons

Employees due to budget cuts need to be treated in same fashion as if first day. Sends a horrible impression to the remaining team members ... no one should ever be dismissed in a group in front of their peers. Low class and unnecessary move by executive team

    Advice to Management

Treat people better than you want to be treated coming and going.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Love the teamwork, deals on top of discounts for clothes, extras discounts with gym memberships, etc

    Cons

Usually working alone or another associate but overloaded with tasks to do such as cleaning fitting rooms, doing go backs, floor recovery, getting credit sign ups, etc, minimum wage, and difficult customers

    Advice to Management

If your associates are the face of the company who work the MAGIC experience, why do you pay them so poorly?

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture of Macy's is sincere. It's a company you can be proud to work for. There are many opportunities for organizational participation within the community which is GREAT if thats important to you. Work/life balance is a bit more manageable than other retail companies. Because Macy's is such a large company there is more opportunities to change departments and find something that interests you.

    Cons

Because of corporate stress, management and the employees are lost in the system. Although this varies on store, you definitely feel like a number to management. Their personal goal system causes contention between employees and creates a negative vibe on the floor front. Management, again this depends on which department you're in, is quick to turn their eye when faced with uncomfortable employee issues.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic goals for employees. Pay attention to what is going on and deal with employee issues fairly. If an employee isn't following company policy they need to be dealt with accordingly. Not addressing the issue only creates unmanageable contention between employees and chances are you will lose the better of the bunch.

    Cons

can be boring sometimes, can be very stressful sometimes, mgmt is garbage, associates dont seem to know what they're doing or what needs to be done

    Advice to Management

manage your people better, plenty of associates just aimlessly walking around not doing anything (when its busy)
