I have been working at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

The opportunity to grow is there... but it can depend on how good you're management team is.

    Cons

Technology is well below the market standard. Pay is below the market standard as well.

    Advice to Management

If you want to stop people from moving to other companies, start paying your detectives as well as they do.

I worked at Macy's (Less than a year)

    Pros

40 percent discount certain times a year in cosmetics and fragrances, gratis if you work for a particular line

    Cons

They will sell you the job with commission which is 3 percent in cosmetics and by no means a stable form of income or benefits. You will not always have the necessary supplies to deliver the best customer service possible. The pay is bad and the clientele is terrible. You will be expected to perform impeccably and will not be recognized or compensated.
You do not get health insurance, you pay for it. You must use a Macys credit or pre paid card to receive the employee discount. They will reimburse you on your statement and they will not always do it accurately. If you're a student or just someone who is looking to make a quick buck, part time or flex positions is the way to go. There is no work/life balance otherwise and it's not worth being there full time!

    Advice to Management

The employees are not there to do favors or work for free. You will have better results if you value their hard work and will see less turnover and a better magic score!

    Pros

I dont think there is anyprofessionalism in this company. Manager are trying to mimic high end department stores like Barneys New York, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue

    Cons

be ware of false promises, Macy is bery famous for that and for black maling his employes. is the reason many macy stores are clossing down.

    Advice to Management

don't promise something will not be deliver or render.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's about positive customer experiences which ultimately lead to results, not just the numbers. Friendly co-workers, interesting customers, flexible hours.

    Cons

At the whim of your manager's mood. Typical sales issues

    Advice to Management

Give employees more opportunities to move up

    I worked at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers were pretty cool and helpful. Good health plan and 401k if you worked more hours. Management was pretty helpful with work issues.

    Cons

Difficult to find a steady full time schedule. Repetitive tasks and often a warm workspace due to location of the dock.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You learn a lot in a really short amount of time. Flexible scheduling. The Managers have high expectations but it is really to keep everyone safe. Be ready to go through constant training and drills.

    Cons

It can be tough work at times. Apprehending shoplifters can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Look at the rate of pay for the top performers.

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Macy's does have a lot of pros as far as benefits, growth potential and flexibility. It can vary by location.

    Cons

Although it might come with some strong pros, cons I would say pay can be low, management (varying by store) overall can be a bit different and (once again varying by store) empty promises.

    Advice to Management

Macy's is best known for growth within the company. My advice to management would be, promote based on skill and knowledge not favoritism.
