    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great discount, & you get a chance to see all the new merchandise before it gets picked over. You get paid weekly.

    Cons

The manager over the particular department (I was a shoe expediter) I worked in did not care that I hadn't been properly & efficiently trained. I wasn't scheduled, unless I picked up shifts from coworkers. My first day, I was just thrown to the wolves.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your new associates are thoroughly trained and are comfortable doing their job. Management needs to be more hands on with their new associates.

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working for Macy's the pay is horrible minimum wage but the coworkers are great.. If you permanent you get commission paid in cosmetics but since I was part time seasonal every sale goes to the regular employees working with you even if they don't help make the sale...

    Cons

Short staffed, minimum pay, no commission, horrible store manger she had her picks...

    Advice to Management

Be more personable with your employees to make them want to stay to decrease such a huge turn over rate, also 9 per hour should be the appropriate start rate to keep us as well

    Pros

Employee discount, especially during cosmetics and fragrances friends and family; flexibility of changing schedule with other associates; overall good working relations with other associates

    Cons

absolutely no room for advancement if you are not already in good with the sales managers and store manager. was personally told by 3 sales managers, 2 HR managers, and 2 store managers that I had unlimited potential at the company, but saw no movement from my perspective.

    Advice to Management

be honest with your employees; they deserve that. reward the associates that are actually making the goals set by the company, in many cases exceeding those goals, which covers for those that aren't achieving.
