    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount and interaction with customers, enjoyed getting to know customers, their likes and dislikes, ability to pick up hours and work different departments

    Cons

Pay compared to time your worked, little to no training, management often not available to help out when extremely busy, no longevity

    Advice to Management

Best way to manage is to pitch in when needed.

    I have been working at Macy's part-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule for Holiday work, pick your own hours and sometimes your days off. Employee discount is 20% off, sometimes get an additional 10 or 20% on top of that.

    Cons

Low pay. You can make more $$ working at Target or Home Depot! Training is computer based, boring and not enough. Current employees were not very welcoming to holiday associates. Even after holiday associates were hired, they still seemed understaffed. They need to update their technology, cash registers are slow and outdated.

    Advice to Management

More training should be offered to new hires. They need to work along other employees more than just 2 hours on the first day. They need to be with them for a few days. The computer training is not enough.

    I worked at Macy's full-time

    Pros

Great place to work for students. Management matains an organized enviornment although it may feel hectic at times.

    Cons

In order to move up in the ranks you must prove yourself by signing people up for credit cards. Horrible way to measure an employees work ethic and leadership.

    Cons

Opening Macys credit cards is a big challenge, schedules are hard during the holidays, management changes a lot in cosmetics departments

I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you get on the right side of management then you can go far rank wise.

    Cons

The very opposite of the pro... In my store particularly everything is very biased. They get on your case about opening credit cards all the time, even when the store has very little traffic. Like any other retail job working on the floor is similar to walking in no mans land. Sometimes associate rivalry gets so out of hand that it is ridiculous, but again this is because managers also take on favorites.

    Advice to Management

Get to know well the associates you work with so that a more transparent work environment is achievable.

    Pros

    Cons

Poor work environment a lot of turnarounds at least three a month need better management

    Advice to Management

Need to take responsibility for their mistakes and not blame the employees all the time

    Pros

Interactions with great customers and co workers.

    Cons

Better needed notifications on sales for the flex. Management needs to learn how to ask for help on a task that doesn't have to do with employee

    Advice to Management

To ask for help with a side assignment you want an employee to do not force on them. Be a leader not a dictator.
